Really I think you will find an Exige is 30k, thats HALF AS MUCH AGAIN!!!!!!!!!! and slower in a straight line than the VX220.

Easy to get even more power out of the VX as well with a few boost tweaks!

VX220 Turbo are great great value!!!

Softer, easier to live with and more road biased as well than the Lotus's, so they do have do appeal to slightly different people. ABS, airbags as well...

They should still have called it an Opel Speedster though!

Porkie, we forgive you mate, because you are part of the IN crowd, its not like it was IMA saying it or anything, if it was we would have persecuted him because he isnt in the IN crowd, and because we are worried he could bring down the whole tuning industry with his revolutionary DIY engine (the MAD one)

I know its only banter.

Why are the s2 exige's so desirable ??
Been looking them up. The s1 exiges's are half a second quicker to 60 !!!
There is 1 on autotrader going for 20k.

Badge and looks aside what make the exige s1 better than the vx220 ?

The S1 has PROPER downforce, so on track is like a mini Group C car . Is too extreme for everyday use (IMO), but on track, is sublime .

Sean has just converted his to sequential gearbox and it's over 200bhp . He has made it into one of my cars of choice, irrespective of budget .

2 very different cars... Exige is a track toy really, very focused. VX is faster in a straight line, more user friendly, comfy, more refined and the roof comes down and I love roadsters

Seans Exige does look VERY VERY hard though and he has REALLY gone to town on it. The spec is just mental now... totally mental

Half a second quiker ?

I read it was the same 4.7 ?? Is it 4.2 ?? (Thats quick !!!)

I agree the exige is more desirable but the practicality of the VX is probably gonna win it with it predominentally being for the missus. It will never see a track.

Boxster or a Z4 are not as quick certainly and not as much fun BUT much much much more practical and better to live with.

If its just gonna be a weekend toy though the VX is the way forward

Believe it or not originally (many many years ago) vauxhall started life as a prestige marque (before being bought by general motors) but i agree vauxhalls dont have any really interesting pedigree or heritage, but im not really convinced any ford does in the grand scheme of things either, in reality they are both just makes of boring bland cars that occasionally get a "hot" version played with by the likes of lotus or cosworth, and arguing wether ford or vauxhall has more pedigree is like arguing wether blackpool or margate is more exotic.

Because pedigree or not, both of those badges translate as middle market, middle man cars.

Not one sane person is ever gonna look at a C-Max and buy it because the badge has rallying pedigree

I look at the CAR and judge it on its merits. The Sapphire Cosworth for example is only a good car because it has a cracking engine. Not one other thing on the car makes me class it above any other four door saloon.
