Don't know what it's like in the UK, But young lads love Sierras over here! (Although most of them are non cosworth)
How many are even left? The amount stolen, burnt out, crashed, broken for parts must be astronomical. Just look how many classic Fords have a YB fitted.
Getting a decent Cosworth is getting harder and harder. Prices arn't going to go bonkers, But I can see a decent Cosworth with MOT going for the £15k mark in a short few years.
There will always be young guys into Cosworths, I bought mine in January (At 20) Even though I can't drive the fucker for another 5 years due to insurance! I still love everything Cosworth!

By next in line, I was referring more to desirability. I've heard it said a few times that the saph drives better. I too wanted the sapphire (as that was the car I lusted after as a teenager) so that is what I've got

A 1988 Sapphire Cosworth sold at Charterhouse auctions for £19800 last month so that's a sold not asking price. That's reported in Classic & Sportscar with the £47250 3 door.

Im old enough to be that guys dad. Sad to say he will get in the way & not have a clue when under attack & will probably cause deaths as other try to help him out. Can you imagine if his lack of pace & experience gets him captured & his be-heading/burning is shown on the net.

You've only got to wonder around somewhere like ford fair and see that every other old skool Ford is running a cosworth lump, i'll bet 95% of them come from the days when sapphires were common, abused , rusty and cheep, so raped for the running gear, the rest floged off to make 1.8LX saph's into cosy reps.
and now they are still the entry level into cosworth ownership, but rising in value, im guessing people arnt chopping and changing them like years ago, so less and less to choose from on the market.
Happy days if you have one in the garage

That grey saff was a bargain, a guy I know in paisley just sold his magenta 2wd for 5.2k on eBay completely original just needs some paint.

I don't like the idea of them going up it makes me worry more about leaving it anywhere. Scum just want to steel them. 8 years ago I had my saff and it was 4 grand car. Good friend of mine had a mint 3dr and it was a 10 grand car. I could leave mine anywhere he couldn't and I always thought nice car but I'd worry too much.

I'm nearly 18 now and if you offered me a cossie a year or 2 ago I would have said yes, but now if you offered one I'd probably admire it and say ''Nah you're alright.'' I know I'd rather have a near standard r32 skyline for the price of a cossie. Regardless of if it was a 3 door or saph, 2wd or 4wd. I just don't have that desire to own one anymore. I have my sierra hatch but that's my toy and I don't give a toss if it has anything cosworth on it, let alone be powered by a ford engine tbh. The novelty has worn off for me I think, but the prices certainly havent sunk in yet lol

I'll never not like cosworths I genuinely like the look of sapphires to me the rwd moonstone saff with its original bonnet and orange lights looks the best of all of them. Totally standard on the rwd wheels. Also love the 3dr's but not so keen on the escorts. And at the other end of the scale there's also a big love for how fast they can be which is still a big interest for me. They can be an utterly devastatingly fast car.

it's going to become a case where some people will park them up as are worth more and some people will rag them as usual as they can afford to fix them
slowly slowly the normal person who just likes them and would like the chance to own one will simply not bother, as said, you can get much more car for the money

I defo think people will stop using them. Yeh they are better cars out there but us cossie people respect them for what they are. I love mine to bits but the wifes mk1 focus is more comfortable.
I love the fact that these old cossies can still go up against modern performance cars

There's no doubt about it they are fucking rapid cars and feel really quick aswell. My Impreza mates are impressed with how the cossie pulls with not a lot of power, but I always say to them no matter how chocolate a Subaru engine is at least they can be left anywhere without a single fuck. I'd leave a 22b outside without a care, there's always one parked in Glasgow City centre without any problems. Try that with even a base model Sierra and I'd be worried.

I've noticed how similar our tastes and opinions are I've read a few of your posts and most of the time I do sit and say that's totally what I think lol.
For me it's a white or magenta saff 2wd with ambers, fords just don't get better than that lol. I dunno what it is about the 3dr and escos but I'd take a saff over them two anyday.

I thought the Escos was the best untill I drove a few, yeah they look and handle awesome but the power delivery is totally different from a saph I've found, u don't get that boost kick in the back, it seems a more progressive linear power delivery (unless your running silly bhp obviously). Saph all the way for me

If they do go up in price one thing is for sure people will be kicking them selfs they didn't buy the needs a little attention and the odd bit of welding ones before they too go right up.

Not having any would worry me lol mine looked clean a few little spots on the sill. When them little spots were cut out the insides of the sills were fucked. Now it's all new. How many look good on the outside ones are there that are fucked on the inside

Mines never had one single patch. Been waxoyld since new and never driven in the wet (until I got it) I know fords rust. I spent half my career welding them up but when someone mentions rust in an advert id have to check the car over on a ramp or something.
