Should be fine with respect to overheating.

Its a one-spanner job I reckon. Having said that, I have no idea where the pipes are on a beantin

Piece of piss to do mate, theres 2 pipes goin thru the bulkhead in the same place both should have jubilee clips on, undo and join them together using the pipe and clips. Once done it'll be fine and you wont have problems with overheating dont worry!!!

Radweld wont do shit if the hole is 2 big, had to put some in my rad a while back cos it had a leak then the matrix started leaking and stoped assuming cos of the radweld, then a week or so later the thing went completely floodin the car

Replacing the matrix is SO EASY a little time consuming maybee! If I can do it without any manuals or guidance am sure anyone can.

If its dripping bad then u already have a hole in it mate!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bypass it temporarily then get another matrix for it!!!!!!!!!

Dunno if the escorts are the same but Fez ones are all identical so didnt have to be an Xr2i one etc. only bout a score 2nd hand aswell

take one of the rubber pipes down to B&Q with you or the matrix it self and you can compare the pipe sizes they have there.

Errrrrrrrrrrrrmmmmmmmmmmm not sure what size pipes come in 1cm might be a bit too small think it needs to be about 1.5-2cm but dont quote me on that.

Easiest way is take off 1 of the pipes and see if what u have fits, you'll only loose a little bit of water when u take it off mate.

Or do as andy said and take the pipe off, just dont drive it without it

Just change the matrix Keith. Really easy job, should be really easy on yours as your interior is stripped?

I have done a couple on turbos, they are about Ł20. 2 x 13mm (I think) bolts under dash, and it slides out.

Ian.

The pipes going into the matrix from the bulkhead shoud have jubilee clips on

Well i know they do on fez's and cossies anyway

but yea they will need clips or their likely to leak coolant

You shouldn't need to join them - you have the 2 pipes coming from somewhere on the engine. Remove the shortest one, and use the long one to go back to where you look the other one off from.

Make sense?

No its OK, the water pressure wont just blow them off as soon as you rev the bastard

FFS Dude, go fix it!!!

They can and do just let go, and the best place for your coolant is in the bloody engine, not in your car

Not much at all and its blocked anyway as I've never had the heater working properly in the car since I bought it.

You can get a new matrix for Ł35 but its such an arse of a job to replace so i've been told
