Default bodyshop prices.....?

.....whats a rough estimate price id should expect to pay to have 2 rear arches on a small car rubbed down and painted in metallic paint to make good surface rust bubbles ?
would £300 get that done in an average back street bodyshop or am I way out of touch these days....?

Depending what the damage reveals when sanding down as I presume you want the rust cut out and replaced with good metal, £300 should get you an unnoticeable repair on both sides

All depends on what you want. There could be a lot more work involved once stripped down and taken back to bare metal. If there's rot holes then it needs to be cut out and replaced with new metal which will cost more, or you could have them lashed up to look nice which will cost you less. Then depending on the size of the repair and especially being metallic, the paint will have to be blended into the adjacent panel for best results. Or run the risk of painting edge to edge which could show a colour difference. Like I say it's all down to what you're willing to pay.

theres no holes in the metal its surface bubbling all along the arch edges so I don't expect there needs to be metal getting replaced. just looking for an idea of a guide price for when I go into a bodyshop. sounds like £300 should be fine. its a 2004 merc not a 2015 bentley

£300 is what we would charge provided there was no welding required

It cost me £45 to do a rear arch on a 3 series in metallic, labour not included so your are looking roughly £150 a side minimum from a fairly decent body shop/garage

Just don't forget to treat inside the panel, as the inner will still be rusting away from behind...
