Diff backlash
Hi there,
I've got a gripper diff in my saph it was my mate that fitted it when he owned it and he set it quite slack. He said that when he set the backlash he forgot to give it a few rotations to settle before finally checking which has resulted in it being a bit 'whiney'.
He's talked me through the process of tightening it up and has given me the castlated socked to do so. From what I gather you remove both drive shaft stubs and then the castlated nuts which allows you access to either adjust the diff in or out. Am I right in saying this and also how many thou of backlash is recommended? I would of have imagined it to be around 10 thou?
If anyone's done this can you please comment and give me some pointers.
Adam
