Default First Bike Suggestions (on L plates)

OK, looking at getting a bike to ride on a provisional/CBT

any suggestions?

was looking at a 125 of some description... something to learn on. or maybe a restricted 250?

any good suggestions for a 1st bike? something fairly cheap, <1k

i really like the Honda NSR125 but theyre quite pricey.

so, anyone got any advice? or even selling a learner legal bike?

also what about tests? is it worth bothing with a direct access test? or shouldi just stick with the CBT/L plates?

cheers

Cagiva Mito EVO is what you want , a fookin good looking 125 as these are mini Ducati 916s

http://www.fichtelgebirge.org/user/andy.d/mito125.htm

Also you have to take your bike test within 2 years of passing your CBT

Jim if you take a DAS then you can ride ANY bike in the world but I really dont see you kneedown at 80 through a tightleft hander

Maybe a Honda C90 would suit you better

aprillia RS 125/250's are ace, but cost more than 1k i think.

as for licenses, depends what you want.

personally id say to get your CBT then 6 months to 1 year later do the full license.

up to you tho.

i see soke of those cagiva mitos... they look VERY nice.

are they ok to ride tho?

remember i'm a beginner and am not after a fast bike... just somehting to learn on, and for taking to work etc. but would like it to look quite nice

also want something quite small too, not after a huge R1 size thing

My mito from a few year ago!!
Had it dyno,d at 31bhp
Mega expensive to run though
It went through 4 pistons in 13 month
Used to wheelie off the throttle though
handling wise it was A1 But reliability was shocking

How about a Sinclair C5 Jimbo. I really do feel it's the safest for you and everybody else

In seriousness Jimbo mate, good on ya . Wish I would get off my butt and do it but I'm scared of the missus so won't be doing it in a hurry.

Rachel said that I have four wheels now and spend most of my time on only two of those at a time so if I only have two to start with I'm buggered

Yamaha RD125 LC
Micron zorst and you have a reliable 21 bhp

Get the early one and not the late model one with the 16" front wheel

me n me mates share a TS80 its a right laugh

i'm still in love with the NSR125 just cant justify spending so much money when i intended to spend only a few quid and i dont know if i like the older shape...

i'm still swaying towards the TZR125 as 1) my mate's got one 2) it's cheap 3) looks nice (for a 90s bike)

jim why get a r/r bike, why not just get a gillera runner 125 ped, no gears, easiest thing to run and they also got heaters built in to keep ya legs warm

i used to have a nsr125, the tyres are fooking thin as fook, whenya hit the white lines for bus lanes ya skid all over the shop

the most fun bike i had was a gilera dna the tyres are a decent size but the turning circle is shite though

if ya want any good adivce ect my neighbours a shit hot bike tuner, he fooking loves em and has his own business playing with em

cbt only= £800 tpft on a apprillia rs125

direct access= £390 fully comp on a 600 bandit

I was going to get a 125 for a year then do me full test but decided i couldnt justify paying the insurance on a poxy 125 so booked me theory today, for a week on tuesday then going to do me direct access

I have a mate who bought one of these for a laugh. Chucked the 125 lump away and fitted a YZ 250 lump from one of his motorcross bikes!

Was a right gas to ride.

Thing was it got in a tank slapper while over taking a car under hard acceleration on a bumpy road and threw him off!

Funny thing is it was on his birthday and we told every one we knew that he had been thrown off a 125 Mito!

Only really funny when you know that he was racing British and European Supersport 600 at the time!
