Default EBC Yellow Stuff Pads Fallen apart.

I have had to order some new brake pads (not EBC), as yet again the outer pad on my brake pads have come away from the main metal body of the pad.
This is the second time this has happened in the space of 4 years and there is loads and loads of metal left on the pad.

Has anyone else had this problem with EBC Yellow's or even the other EBC types??

Can't go back to them as they are 3 years old with bugger all wear.

They are beyond shite seen loads do it on one make race cars where they stipulate what you use ! If you want a pad that doesn't cost the earth but does exactly what they should do use a mintex 1133 or if you drive hard then use a 1144

Could be where it's just been used much. On the other hand I work for a company that manufacturers brake pads and from time to time we get edge lift where the pad don't press on to the glue on the backing plates so water could have got behind it and come away

Seen loads of DS2500's come away from the metal backing too.

I'm on Carbon Lorraine now too and they seem to be great, much better cold bite too.

I've used reds loads of times before and never had a problem, but, hearing this, I'll steer clear!

Yes the RC6's and RC8's are very noise but I can live with it for the awesome stopping power and more importantly for Hillclimbing serious bite from cold.

Although I've never tried them myself but the new RC5 compound don't squeal apparently, but they aren't quite as hardcore the the RC6's & 8's.
And too be fair unless you are doing proper 20+ lap races you don't need the RC8 either.

How comes? I've heard very good things about ds2500s and 3000s. A lot of club rally folks round my way swear by the 3000.

Same here I was hammering them a Donington for 20 min sessions at a time and never had them fade either.

Never tried the 2500 myself but had the 3000's in before the RC6's and I found them to be pretty poor and once you've tried a set of RC6's you'll never go back.

You guys running reds on the road must have to anchor the brakes to get them warm enough

They feel wooden there hard as nails and wear discs prematurely and there dirty as hell and the dust eats into your wheels we wont use them or recommend them its either the mintex range or carbon Lorraine

I used 1166 mintex in my evo and they were great in fast road conditions but on the motorway they were fun at times

Ah right, seem to suit competition cars mind, things like brake disc wear and dust don't seem to bother them, they get changed between most rallies.

Hi Rich, I have never heard of the pads you are using, they sound good and the cold bite is very important. Where are they available from please?
Cheers Richard.

i now switched to ds3000 and i find them phenominal compared to 2500. im suprised to hear bad things about them. they were outstanding at combe a few wks back on my car. i did look at carbone lorraines though but were double the price for my car and couldnt justify that.

godspeed brakes bridgend will sort you out for pads cossynut2

I never found them too bad?! Maybe I never drive it hard enough on them?!

I thought yellows were supposed to be more of a track pad and would need to be warmed up first?

Go straight to Paul Chance he's the UK Distributor and you'll get the best price form him.
Nice bloke and he'll sell you the best pad for you not the most expensive.
