Default VW polo 1.2 head advice

Hi,
My friends car a vw polo 1.2 6 valve has a very low compression reading on no.3 cylinder. I know nothing about vw's I only drive fords.

Anyone on here done a head removal/refit?
Common problems are exhaust valves and timing chain which im hoping to do but not sure if I'll be able to do it.

Just seeing if it's a do it at home job and advice before I offer to do it for them.

You'll need the proper timing tools for the chain but other than that its straight forward enough
