Default Transit, break or sell?

My 2.0 di transit has just failed mot and today the gear linkage has snapped so only have 3rd and 4th want to keep it but need another asap to get back to work.

How much roughly would I get if I broke it?

Im guessing its only worth £400 as it is. Needs a bit of welding nothing major. Linkage sorting and 2 tyres.

Not a great deal to break it, I always think it's better to repair if it's been reliable, things break and wear out and that could be the same with the next one you buy plus the cost of replacing it.

Its a swb low top. Not in bad nick for a 51 plate. Done 208k Underneath is solid bar the very small patches of weld needed. Ideally id like to buy a quick run a round been offered one for £500 with mot till end of may which will give me time to fix mine. Or I could buy a better one, seen a 54 300 for £1600 and just see what mine fetches on ebay.

They're all as bad for rust/rot
I've got a 06 thats as rotten as a pear, thats getting scrapped at end of month
Theres not a great deal of money in any of the parts tbh
Theres 100's of them in scrap yards so easy to come by
So it means that theres no big money in parts
If you've got somewhere to break it, and leave it lying around for months,
And you can sell it off a bit at a time with getting the mney in dribs and drabs
Then you'll make a bit more, but it wont be a huge amount either way
You might be better off just bidding farewell and letting it go
Maybe even advertise it as spares or repairs just in case somebody could use it before yo scrap it

I wouldn't scrap it. Id like to get another one sorted then get it fixed and either keep it or sell it.

It really isn't bad underneath, nowhere near rotten just 3 tiny repairs needed I coated underneath with waste oil 3 years ago when I got it and it was well looked after before then.

Worst i'll do is put it on ebay and see what happens. Has to be worth £500 to someone surley
