I bought the LS360W, although had to buy an additional GPS antenna, the 460 is built in

http://www.dod-tech.co.uk/ls460w.html

Video quality is excellent, and more importantly video quality at night is superb compared to some.

I've had a couple of cheaper cameras claiming 720 and 1080 etc...by comparison they were just complete shite
I tend to record with the DOD on 720 at 60fps
I dont have any HD displays on the computer, so dont see any point in 1080, and 720 at 60fps seems a more sensible option if it needs slowed down etc

Again, between moviemaker and youtube, actual footage quality is better, although it's still decent on youtube

Night time test between a £40-50 720P ebay camera I used to use vs the DOD LS360W
Same section of road, one night after the other, same time etc.

cheaper camera

DOD LS360W

My Dad uses one of these in his Sprinter,
http://www.micksgarage.com/proddetails.aspx?pid=4735399

Wack in a 32GB and it works away itself.
GPS and Speed can be turned off if needed.

Nextbase 402G, Look up youtube for footage.

Make sure you buy the correct class of memory card, or better than required.

I just used a 32gb Sandisk from Amazon.

Although my DOD camera says it can only take 32gb, the camera supplier sells 64gb cards they say work fine with it, but some brands of 64 do not.

Their prices were decent anyway, so if buying a 64gb, I would just buy from them

32gb at 720/60fps on mine only holds around 8.5 hours or so

At the touch of a button or at a G-shock it will securely store the file at the time of activation though. So only having around 8 hours isnt a huge deal although more would be good.

Don't confuse class of memory with storage of memory.

G sensors are crap as well, fill the memory card in no time thanks to our pot hole roads.

I'm not, obviously you need to use a card with a speed rating suitable for what you're using it for, that goes without saying.

Havent had any issues with the G sensor on mine....it's never even been activated yet and it's set on the medium setting I think.

Wasn't telling you mate more pointing it out for others. As Id not of known my self untill I watched TechMoan on YouTube and he said about it.

Class 10 he said on several videos and to buy ligit memory cards, not cheap Chinese ones as they end up effecting the video/recording/loop on the cam.

Think I'll just turn my G sensor off (when it arrives) and just save the one loop by pressing the button.

Transcend Pro. £87 from amazon. Think that's the cheapest I'd found it. Two mates ffrom work have also bought the same before I did so took their recommendation for ease of use and quality.

Transcend 16GB DrivePro 200 Car Video Recorder with: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics Transcend 16GB DrivePro 200 Car Video Recorder with: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics
16 GB - approx 2 hrs of footage, all in full HD. Can record in different duration sizes (1 minute blocks) to minimise d/l time. This keeps over-writing once the memory is full. Protected feature to save footage. Also G-sensor to auto-lock footage in emergency, or you can activate emergency recording also.
Wifi enabled, so you can connect it to your phone and d/l footage so you don't have to connect it to a computer. Various options, like muting the microphone and changing the G-sensor sensitivity. Comes with a long USB-to-in car 12V lighter socket lead so you can hide all the wiring.

It's all reviewed down the bottom of that page actually. Comes with a little stick pad for fixing, but I got a small sucker pad for £7 so you can get it in the right spot, or move it from car to car.

Just bought a GS8000L - have been umming and arring about getting one for a bit, but just watched Car Crash Britain on ITV, so clicked buy it now Noticed the one I had in my watch list, originally £19.95 a few weeks ago had gone to £21.95 a couple days ago - had gone to £29.95 tonight! So I bought same one from a different seller for £17.99 Add a SanDisk 32gb card for a tenner, and I'll give a whirl in the van to see if it's any good

well I ended up buying the G1W based on the techmoan review as it showed great day & night vision and had a suction mount rather than a sticky pad all for £30

Mine arrived just now

Having a nap as twins had me up loads then out to get a memory card and set it up.

Think you can get different mounts seperately for them.

been doing a fair bit of driving lately and have seen a fair few accidents on my travels so reckon it was time to invest, only opted for a entry level one for now but if the bug takes me I may well upgrade to higher spec

Class 10 should be good for 1080P HD.

Pretty sure the lower numbers are less capable cards ?

It should be but I think on the review on youtube he said class 6 as the 10 caused problems for some reason.
Not seen it for a while though.

Also sorted the issue for the charge cable, it would seem that you need to charge the camera first, might just be mine but the cable didn't seem to have enough output to charge it while I was playing with it.

Just been out quickly and will upload once its finished.

I will be fitting fitting one as soon as my car comes back from being repaired.
Aparentlyif you are joining the main carriageway, the dick head on said stretch was in the right even if my witness said they were at least 50 in a 30. I'm wrong cos I was joining his high speed road. Bollocks.

Surely if you were coming from a minor road to a major then there was a giveway line and you either didnt stop or you misjudged his speed and pulled out and he whacked you?? If so then its only partially his fault for being faster.

I've been giving this some serious thought recently too. Think it's s goer based on some great suggestions in this thread. I'll second the Techmoan reviews being great too

Decided it's between the G1W and 0803 Mini both from e prance and both on Amazon, the former £35 and with a suction mount. Cheap but lacking in adjusting to changing light conditions. Otherwise seems fantastic.

The latter great all round with a sticky mount (I'd buy another to put it in the other car when needed). The reviewer reckons the best he's tested..

I also wouldn't want the GPS speed/location thing on either tbh!

Also seems you want a class six card.

Think I'd want to hard wire mine somewhere to ignition live and not have the odd trailing cable though, or tie up my 12v socket.

And worst thing was I went to the Tesco express and reversed into the bloody bollard in front of the shop with the security guy there

But what I watched on the laptop I was very surprised how good the video is at night.
