Supra diff conversion...
Have decided on a supra diff conversion and have all the parts, am just curious on 2 things..
A. How much bhp/torque can a rebuilt supra diff take?
B. People that have done the conversion, what diff are you running? Ie. Standard, standard but rebuilt, aftermarket (trd, kaaz etc)
Discuss, go...

I've a MA70 3.7 one that I'm going to send off too bara to have a weir locker kit fitted. I've an mk fitting kit and I'll send my beam to him to mod as well. Will fit this lot once my new engine is back and in

Weir is the make I believe its a stronger spring inside the lsd so the wheels lock up easier. It makes it less likely to spin one wheel

Bara rebuilt mine and set it up but I am not sure if I have the weir kit. I think the supra diffs can take big abuse even at 700 plus bhp and massive torque levels. Mine is 4x4 and using a 3.9 from a non turbo car. My car is close to 500 bhp and similar torque.
I think scooby slayer had a monster power supra so maybe he can comment....I have certainly never heard of anyone breaking one on here.
I too have the MK fitting kit.

i have a 2wd sapphire and the 3.9 diff but im told the 3.7 is closer to the standard ration ...

i paid 150 plus 40 postage for mine. I standard Sierra cosworth ratio is 3.64 so 3.7 is the closest. I've been quoted about 500 to rebuild mine with the updated spring kit

My 3.9 had rebuild at Ł200, reset to 100 lbsft Ł50, side seal, pinion seal, solid spacer, MAXI grip kit, CWP bearings (2), side bearing, flange bolts and came to a total of Ł678 plus VAT which included shipping and painting. I imagine the costs may have gone up since 03/14? Bara did a fantastic job, great support and even sent pics of before and after etc. I guess the prices depend on what needs to be done.
My diff on a 3.9 took a long time to locate.

My only nag with these diffs is in the drift world they are not classed as strong. infact I've known of one customer to destroy 3 with approx 500hp, that said not one of those diffs will of ever been checked or rebuilt, they are thrown in and abused.
Its a nice bolt on conversion but is no way as bullet proof as some seem to think.

I had my supra diff rebuilt at Bara just before xmas, had maxi kit fitted new seals and strip n rebuild, they told me mine was a good diff when they stripped it, hardly any wear Ł560.00 all in top blokes there well helpful, showed me around shop and jobs they had on,couldnt have been any friendlier..turned it around in bout 5days

In some cases yes, I wont defend them thats for sure as plenty are thrown together BUT its a known fact those diffs are far from indestructable, there are several other options but nothing that cheap.

I had a mk4 supra, small case diff with a carbonetics lsd in it, 295/30/19 r888s 760 hp, 650 lbft at the hubs, 30-130 mph in 8.8 seconds and I couldn't break it, but that was a mk4 with uprated lsd, I don't know if the mk3 ones are as strong ?
one thing is for dam certain it will be miles stronger than any cossie 7.5" pooper lol

I've a mate with a rwd 5OO Bhp m.a.d saff with an elite box in it he busted 4 yb diffs then fitted a supra one. He dives like a total cunt and has not busted the diff yet but did brake wear the mount bolts the the rear case
