Default Baileys dump valve - which one?

Evening all.

just a quick one i hope - i know baileys do dump valves for cars with air flow meters, and those without. I understand why cars with an airflow meter must have that one, so the dump valve seals when its not dumping even under vacuum conditions.

BUT....

would i be able to use a dump valve designed for an airflow meter car on a car without? im guessing it would mean its just a sealed system under vacuum, whereas the other would be free flowing until boost conditions...right?

Its just ill be buying a used one and have been offered one from an airflow meter car

Thanks very much.

Matt

What car? Twin piston is for airflow metered cars single for cosies etc. the only real world difference with a twin piston on a cossie is the lack of whistle on idle. With a single it remains open at idle.

I think they are ok but would be better with some kind of filter imo

I use a single piston on my cossie.

My car doesnt use an airflow meter, but i was just checking it would be ok to use a dump valve designed for one. Just means all of the air will come through the turbo when idling etc i guess.

Thanks for the reply.

Fitted my old RST one on my Audi for a laugh. Didn't work, made the ftsh sound but was followed up by a weird droning buzz sound like old plumbing. Relocated the Bailey Dv to the spares box where it still sits 6 years later.
