Default mk3 mondeo tdci

I have a 2006 Mondeo 2.0 tdci few days ago I started the car and it died on me as if there was a blockage on calling the bread down they checked it over and said it was the egr valve that it was stuck in the closed or open position I took it off and cleaned it with carb cleaner and re fitted it and still the same also the heater plug light has started flashing and there no power at all loads of black and white smoke I have a obd reader and the code is coming back p0405 and p0100 maf sensor I replased the intercooler pipe 7 months ago I don't want to take to garage as funds are tight after xmas please help thx

Even tho you have cleaned the EGR it may still be faulty. Easiest way to rule it out is to put a blanking plate in even temporarily tho if its a Euro 4 engine (more than likely being 2006) it will probably put the engine management light on if you use the blank but will still drive 100% which will tell you if it is a faulty EGR.

Where are you from in Northern Ireland. If close I can lend you a blanking plate.

Ive replaced my EGR twice in 55k miles. It normally sheers the pin off inside, very easily fixed tho even after I cleaned and fixed the pin in mine it still would play up occasionally so I just replaced it

thx this is the second time it has happened the car has just passed 100k miles and yes it is euro 4 2006 I have ordered a blanking plate of ebay £2.95 till I can get a new egr valve

I have put a egr blanking plate in and the engine management light comes on as iv been told also the heater plug light comes on now and then and drives like a 1 liter car not a 2 liter tdci any hints on what I can do
