Hi
Hoping somebody can help as it's very urgent.
Driving today and car lost all electrics, rev counter etc, gauges, everything stopped working, eventually after 10 mins of driving it cut out and obviously now doesn't turn over, which I think means alternator is dead.
Car is on 2002 plate, which alternator do I need? 80 amp or 140 amp? About £100 price difference!!
Is it easy to change it for an amateur mechanic? Any special tools?

To be honest they are a bit awkward to do as the altenator is situated on the drivers side of the engine underneath the inlet manifold and you will have to take the engine mount off to get it out from the top . That is the case with 1.8 / 2.0 focus but I know the st has a bit of an elaborate intake manifold with runners etc so it may be a bit more difficult .
