What did you make of the Top Gear programme on last night? Those Argies were certainly pissed off!!! Three more perfectly good cars ruined and abandoned for our entertainment.

IMO it was rubbish. Glad no one got hurt but still it felt like the build up to a good show got shut down before the climax. All that suffering in those cars to abandon them and take the point of view from the crew. Don't get me wrong it was good to see the thick n thin of it but you can't tell me that any research had been done prior to filming. The porsche number plate ffs that was the first thing I pointed out. I'll stick to the previous repeats on Dave over this years special

It's entertainment and more about theatrics than cars but still worth a watch as it beats most of the w*nk on TV.

I do think it is a piss take to try and work in jibes and claim it was not done on purpose like a child when it blows up in their faces, are we meant to be that retarded?? The Slope comment was a jibe and the Porker was 100% intended, bet they couldn't believe their luck when they came across that car.

They might be a big pay cheque for the bbc, but when the material is the same old think over and over and over again you'll lose viewers and if you are bringing negative publicity at the same time...you may end up dropped.

Needs a good refresh and get a bit of focus back on the cars and not 'acting'

Makes me laugh every year, these threads. People thinking it's still a car show is funny enough on it's own, but then complaining about the specials don't really have anything to do with motoring

TG hasn't been a "car show" for years. Ever since it's reboot way back when, it's strayed away from being a car road test review show - it's simply an extension of the magazine; the boring mundane stuff goes in there, and the flair and impressive stuff goes on TV. Christ, if you want to know how much luggage space a 3008 can take, and how many MPG you can squeeze from a Mondeo, go buy What Car? or Auto Express. I don't think there's many people, even the "enthusiasts" that want to see that shit on TV - which is why the show is focused on entertainment than motoring journalism.

If you don't find it entertaining, that's fine - simply don't watch it. I don't find "Mrs Browns Boys" entertaining, so I don't watch it.

I swear these people only watch it so they can bitch about it on the internet... Jesus wept

I've said this for years if you don't like something don't watch it like the all the moaning fuckers that would sit through a hours long programme that they hated and then write into Anne Robinson on Points of View!

I hate horror films and I don't like being scared so you know what I don't watch them. I certainly wouldn't sit through 120 minutes of the Human Centipede then moan like to fuck to whoever will listen about how disgusted I was by the whole thing and now I can't sleep at night

I like Top Gear but I take it for what it is an entertainment programme not a serious car show.

Gear was a car show". The fact that it gets the viewing numbers it does, plus easily sellable all over the world as well as Dave speaks volumes.

It's been this way for over 10 years or more. They saw the gap in the tv market and turned the product, review of cars format into an entertaining one, of pissing about in cars.

How do you figure that then? I didn't search for a thread about the Top Gear special, it was on the first page of the forum. But the difference is, I didn't go into the thread to say how shit I thought it was, which the same people do every year. So my question is why do these people, if they think the programme is so shit, keep watching it? I can't be for enjoyment, because they think it's shit. So the only thing I can think of is so they can go onto the internet and tell other people they think it's shit.

Me personally, I enjoyed it. Which is why I haven't posted saying it's shit.

It's kinda like when I used to watch True Blood. I thought it was good at first, but after a while I thought it was shit. So I stopped watching it. I didn't go onto the internet and specifically post in a thread that I thought it was shit. And I didn't watch it again when the next season started because I knew I wasn't going to enjoy it.

I thought it was alright but not what i would class a two parter! could've been put into one part and wanted to see more on them and the argies. Would've loved to have seen them go back and change some of the signs and pinkgripped on some union flags! I like Top Gear and thinks its been great over the years, however i agree they need to have a rethink and mix it up a little as its getting a bit same old same old. I love the three of them and how they worked and what they do, but they need to to go bigger i think. Also, this one had no Stig Cousin, so I'm wandering if they did it and it was too offensive and if so thats what i want to see.

Would love to see the unedited footage.

I can't remember the last time I watched a 5th Gear - that dipstick may still have been in it, the one who went on to do a cookery chat show.

A programme that I can't find anything positive to say about, apart from the commercial break and the closing credits!
