High fuel pressure on bmw 530d

Hi
My mates car is having trouble accelerating. He pluged it in and comes up with fuel rail pressure exceeded. Am not clued up on them thats the reason for post. Anyone any idea on these.

He hasnt got 1 of them silly tuning box things on?
The crap's just bump up the fuel pressure, so cause all sorts of probs

No mate it's been remapped but has been for about 4 years

Fuel pressure reg on the pump then maybe,
Does it have a heavy diesel crack?
