Default Starter motor help? Making noise i think.

Hello,

So I've took the starter motor off my Citroen Berlingo 1.9 and all the teeth look fine but sometimes its won't start and makes a noise that i thought was the starter not engaging.

Could there be something in the starter that makes the noise?

Cheers.

The starter could be sticking on the way out and not quite engaging

Should i be taking it apart to give it a good clean and see if the brushes are gone?

That would help i guess?

Didn't see a dowel, just 3 bolts holding it in place.

Also never saw any diesel but think there is a oil leak somewhere thats very slow above it. Ill take it apart and have a look. Should i use brake cleaner or just a wet rag?

Cheers.

Cleaned it last night and its back on now, started first time and did so for another 4 times.

Didn't know if i should of greased it though so it moves in and out better.

Just see if it happens again i guess.

Cheers.
