Default 335d or 330d or D3 biturbo....BMW thread of course!! Lol

Really can't decide on a new daily!!!

335d - bloody fast but only available in auto (although I loved my dsg gti golf)

330d - nearly as fast as above but can get them in manual

Or

D3 biturbo - different and rare, always get drawn towards 'rare' cars as you always get looks out and about. But twin turbo 2.0, little over stressed engine?

All would be a tourer if I got one.

What's people's views?

I wouldn't worry about the D3 Biturbo being stressed. It's only 200bhp isn't it? The F30 325d uses the same engine and out the factory is pushing 218bhp!

I would also love an Alpina but a D3 isn't for me. I don't know why but I feel that the 4 cylinder diesel engine in a 'special' 3 series really spoils it.

I think a 330d manual with a good remap would be the best compromise and you can get a manual!

Really?!? Suppose it can be quite common now with digital speedo's and that.

Thinking bout it to get a lci in a 335 is the same as the alpina at 18k plus with 50ish thousand, same mileage and lci 330d is 14k /

When I bought my first Auto I was a bit apprehensive as I believed all the auto-haters, but seriously I don't think i'd ever buy another manual car again unless it was something like a 200sx/cossie etc love the dct in the M3, couldn't ask for a better box!

Love the Alpina styling but it would be 335 for me. Paddle shift and it could only be tourer(my main love).

My baby- full M3 DCT every nut/clip/wire etc etc

I had a 123d and sometimes I wish I'd never sold it... had a DPF-removal and remap done on it and it made 275bhp and 380lbft, was a proper little flyer. Look back and think that if I stuck a Quaife in it, then it'd have that missing piece of the jigsaw it lacked.

Pace-wise, it was only a bit slower than Chops E46 M3 in a straight line run we had one evening.

x35d and x30d are performance diesels and aren't really economy-focused IMO... so if you do mega miles and want a solid true ~45mpg return, then you'd be best looking at the smaller engined option.

Cheers,
Grant

I've owned a 330d and currently have a D3 and it's a great car to be fair. Is quick enough and still returns decent mpg (upto 50mpg on a run) being rare they hold there money very well too.
