i bought a set of BBS wheels yesterday, and iv gone to put them on the car today, and found the centre bore is the smallest bit too small . therefore the wheel wont go on properly.

a little annoyed as i travelled 180+ miles for them and was assured they would fit. but with my car being 180 miles away, i couldnt test fit them. although they came off a mk6 fiesta.

Does anyone know of any places that could do the required task , and enlarge the centres bores out ?? Pref. in the London/ Hertfordshire area.

If you have enough room you could maybe use spacers that way they will get the wheel clearance over the spigot
All depends on arch clearance ect tho

 

arch clearance isnt a problem for me as the car is at standard ride height

theres also a spacer in there, and if i take it out, theres even more movement.

The centres need drilling out on a lathe i guess by about 1-2mm.

I recently got a set of Azev A's bored out to Ford fit. Go to any decent engineering shop and they'll help you out. Even if they can't do it themselves they'll likely know of someone else locally who can help. It was my fabricator who put me in touch with the guy that done mine. These guys all know each other.

Mine are just a set of BBS wheels that i got at a very good price, and really want them on my car!
giving up isnt a option. getting them machined is though !!

Anyone know a rough price per wheels or per set of 4 by any chance?

im not sure on the actual size of the rim bore diameter, but i measured around 60mm. and it needs to be drilled out to 63.4mm ...

Phone one of the firms and ask for a quote! Cant see it being too much, bread and butter work for those sort of companies.

it may be easier/cheaper to get the hubs machined smaller

the inner hole of the rim measured about 58mm, whereas the outer hole came to 60-61mm... so the centres would only need around 2mm removing, off that inner lip

 

If the wheel already has a spigot adaptor pressed in then just press that 1 out and get a new 1 for the size you want, seems like that's what the person before you has done

 

This is a little strange as a Mk6 Fiesta has a centre bore of 63.4mm, which is the same for most Fords. So if the wheel measures less than that it may well have had adapters.

What wheels are they exactly and what car are they going on? As depending on the wheel, Ford fit BBS wheels are rare.

 

thanks chaps, i dont see any spigot rings on it or spacers ,,, they're just empty holes

and yeah im sure they should be considering the mk6 wheels fit the mk5. he showed me a picture of the wheels on his car. but still... i reckon they may have been placed..

also, 1 of the inside bores looks like its already been filed down with something because it looks completely different to the other 3 wheels !

And They are BBS RJ wheels i think. in 15' form... the stud holes match up, its just the centre bore thats a little too small. They will be going on a mk5 fiesta 1.6 sport

I have found someone to do them, called Belmont Engineering in Hitching, hertfordshire... he was quite informative, and told me it would cost around 80 quid..... tbh, im spending all this money on the wheels i may aswell paint them aswell lol...

Im gonna take the drum with me so the chap at the metal place can measure for himself, just to be on the safe side, then hes got no excuse to measure wrong then lol

 

 

What's the offset of the wheels? Should be stamped on the inside somewhere, it'll say ET??

 

They are more than likely Audi wheels, which shared the same 4x108 stud pattern. The centre bore is around 57mm standard, which makes sense and the offset around ET35.

These were only fitted on a Ford with adapters then.

But as xrt si says, they are late 80s/early 90s Audi fitment and the centre is 57mm. Which would mean they must have been on hubcentric spacers on the mk6 fiesta

 

They came with 4 brand new tyres which was another reason i wanted them, plus the normal wheels that came up for sale were boring and overdone and wernt really very nice.

Saw these and wanted them.

paid 100 for them, 40 in petrol. and now gonna be paying another 80 to get them re-bored and probably a score in petrol if i can find a so-called-friend to give me a lift 20miles away.

So yeah, better be worth it lol..

the guy said he didnt use any kind of spacers, but he must have been coz there is NO WAY these will fit on a mk5/6 fiesta centre bore.

They look like old e30 bmw alloys.... someone said they look like they are BBS RJ wheels , but im not sure about that as google images ones dont look like mine
