Focus RS MK2 Damp Smell

Focus RS MK2 Damp Smell
Afternoon All ! - just a quick query to see if anyone has came across the same issue ,
My old man has a 2011 MK2 Focus RS which is pretty much cherished and not used a lot of the time , having covered just over 3000miles in it's 3 year life (I know )
The car is dry stored at home - and earlier In the year I got into the car to move it and noticed a heavy "foisty" damp smell .... There looked to be a tiny bit of mould on the passenger seat which wiped off straight away , it has the black half leather / alcantara trim
I've had a look around the car and can't feel any damp carpets trim - but I'm yet to water test it .
Personally I think it's just with it sitting around so long and lack of use !
So I've bought some auto glym air freshener sprayed the carpets / mats / seats and just gonna monitor it for the time being .
I remember my ST used to have a damp drivers carpet but I never got round to looking at it and it seems to of righted itself
Just wondering if anyone had come across similar problems - as said I think it's just the lack of use smell !
But I told the old chep I would do some digging on his behalf !
Thanks team !

Probably just damp from sitting around doing nothing.
Tell him to put the windows down a bit if its in a garage and get silica beads and put them in the interior of the car they come in little bags and they absorb any moisture.
Same stuff you get when you buy new trainers but the bag is bigger
Something like this will do

I'm in the same boat as you - I don't think the car actually has a problem , just lack of use but thought I'd ask anyways ,
Told him to just give it to me and he can use my ST .... Doesn't seem keen though
Cheers for the input pal
