Think the lack of RS,st models from ford recently have swamped a show like ford fair.
Today's shows are rows of focus,fiesta st,s
90,s shows had
FIESTA...RS,XR2,XR2i,SUPERSPORT,RS1800
ESCORT RSturbo (series 1&2)XR3,XR3i,RS1600i,,RS2000,COSWORTH
And that's just 2 models.

I've been to FORDFAIR for the past 15 years and this year left after 2 hours.Theres only so much you can do with a fiesta/focus st.
Think I'll stick to classic ford shows now.

there is very little in the way of all model ford events so most over subscribe to FF which the organisers love of course but the lack of variety and vast numbers of same model ST/RS does become a bit of a yawn, saying that there was plenty elsewhere to view so its just a case of walking past such stands to find ones that are more diverse which float your boat, FF will never please everyone as its a big ask but seeing how classic ford have now tightened up on their club criteria that show should improove further for pre 1991 cars

Any way we can personalise the Stand passes for individual clubs? I had several cars booked to join our stand and waited around 3 hours for them only to realise they had actually joined their mates on another stand leaving gaps on ours!!

Might book my dads polo estate on track next year just to piss off the old boys at RSOC since it's that easy to get in

happens to all of us as some of our cars were asked to be part of trade displays for their products etc, but lucky for us we had a 120 cars so 3 or 4 going awol made no difference

just don't book them on the stand again

i used to make it quite clear after this happened to me that any future stand passes would require said attendee to plonk their car on our stand or they would not be welcome again

TBH they weren't regular show/meet attendees anyway... It just annoyed me that we as club organisers book people in and people just bum off somewhere else!

Can't understand why people are whinging about the quantity of ST models of various models. There's bound to be more of the modern sporty Fords as the older models are becoming more scarce, if you took all of the ST's and Focus RS's away from the show the same whingers would be moaning about the shortage of cars to look at. For fuck sake you're at a Ford show staged in 2014 what were you expecting to see Model T's, Ford Prefects etc?

But all the arguing aside it's just my opinion, I don't mind new cars, u need new cars but I can't understand there being a car show u pay to look at a place full of them as u can see them driving round your town or in the showrooms still. I like the rare, old and unusual and custom cars. Just what I'm into. No real offence meant! I know the guys take a lot of time organising it and whatever but we wouldn't be british if we didn't moan!

So did the owners of the mk1 and mk2 escorts moan when the mk3 n4 escorts and sierras come out???

I like the newer Fords but they arnt special enough for me. The old fords defo need more looking after.

I think its good that owners of the newer Fords are gettting involved with the Ford scene.

Yeah that's what I said earlier about when the newer escorts and sierras came out I bet they were the same then back in the day people like oh no new cars lol, just the way we are I suppose. Thinking of it logically that way your right, though we can still moan cause they moaned back then lol. I mean I own a sierra saph and people still say that's not classic it's modern so suppose there's that too.

The money we'd make would be a tiny fraction of the amount it would cost to hire Stowe!

You left after 2 hours? Really? You will have missed out on a lot of the cars then unless you ran around!

You'll never please all the people all the time. But it's the people who own a non-Ford, or a modern Ford who moan that there aren't enough Classics who irritate me. They want other people to own and bring Classics to shows so they can look at them.. yeah, ok!

Best points here by far IMO!

First of all, people need to face facts; older Fords are in the minority so there's always going to be more modern Fords than earlier ones. Absolutely nothing can be done about this and the percentage of old vs. new will get worse as more models are produced, such as the new Fiesta/Focus RS that are due.

Secondly, as Glenn has pointed out; hasn't this evolution/transformation happened before? The early Ford Fair events were plagued with Mk1 Escorts, owners of who were no doubt dis-gruntled at all the new fangled Fiesta and Escort models taking over in the late 1990s.

The scene is moving on and will continue to do so.

If Fordfair was split into 2 groups.Pre 2005 models and post 2005 models, which group do you think would attract the biggest crowd.
In shows around 1999 I never saw groups of red escort RS turbos or rows of white xr2is parked together.
Yet today we have a group of 30 focus mk1 RS,s parked together,a pack of orange focus st bunched together.
It's like the organiser has OCD.

I think a lot of people with there old fords are scared to use them in case of damage or of they break down. I think this slammed and daft wheel scene has come into the ford scene cause I seen a lot of fords that were sat on there ass and also had wide wheels and stretched tyres.

That's not a particularly stretched tyre - the rim protector makes it look a lot wider than it is.

well i'd like to say i loved it

it was the first one i'd been to with my little one, as she is now 2 and can walk around and talk about the cars...she loved all the newer fords. they are much more colorful than the older ones, ultimate green, molten orange and frozen white look Waaaaay better than dull old diamond white and moonstone blue.

it important to keep your current customers happy, the guys that turn up in the modern fords, go to the trade stands, buy the products, show off their cars, do something different. the old boys in the sierras and escorts, that bring packed lunches and moan about the cost of a burger and the lack of 0-60 need to step into the modern era.

Im sure Fast Ford would go pretty bankrupt pretty quickly if they didn't cater for modern cars, like as said before, you don't go to ford fair in 2014 expecting to see cars from the 80's as a majority do you. its good to see them around the show but the majority will always be the newer cars. hey even a mk2 FRS i would class as an older car cos it came out 5 years ago!

it's a small stretch, and certainly not extreme like the vw peeps are doing, somethings work in all models and something are just cringeworthy, like the rat look, or stickerbombing

at least they aren't likely to end up looking like this

On another modern Ford note, I guess most people saw the Mustang and the new Mondeo, what did you all think to them? Personally I thought they were both great looking cars, the 5 litre Mustang in particular was stunning, does anyone know if that engine will be one of the UK options?

10 years ago that tyre would have been considered massively stretched.

These days its nothing compared to what the stance and VW emo faggots get upto.
