Today has been a good day.
Im a huge huge american car fan, and have longed to own one since the days of Cannonball Run & Smokey and the Bandit etc.
My mate at graft, is well into them, and has owned 50's Caddys etc.
Anyways, he has just sold his recently purchased 1987 Pontiac Formula Trans Am 350 V8.
New owner collects the car Saturday, as I was finishing my nightshift, and he was starting dayshift, he chucked the keys and me and said help yourself.
First time Ive drove a left hooker, and I fell right into place. The sound of that 5.7 V8 burbling through twin pipes is stuff of my wet dreams![Grin](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
Even though the car body is rough and interior tatty, it goes like nothing else, really haunches down and goes.
I now know what Im buying/swapping my RS for.

Cool car! I do love American cars, when I was growing up my cousin and uncle used to own '60s and '70s muscle cars, mainly big block Pontiacs and the like. Remember a modified Fox Body Mustang GT, too. Loved the sound they all made and they seemed really fast back then, but thinking about it I'm not sure if they were actually that quick.

Very cool looking car, I also really like American muscle cars, they have lovely engine notes right from the factory.

Not quick in the turbo'd Ford/Jap tradition, but it didnt hang about. The noise of the thing all the way through the rev range adds to the experience.
My lifes ambition to own/restore a sixties Mustang, but im very limited on garage size.
One day though, one day.
Ill be down the pod at the Mopar Nats drooling even more now.

My mate had a Smokey and the Bandit Trans Am, complete with Burt Reynolds photograph on the dash. It was epic fun. Not particularly fast but it sounded awesome and boy did it turn heads
