Default Getting my car home, my options?

Evening, just posting here for a bit of advice!

I've seen my next car but it's over in Northern Ireland and I'm in essex, so it's a few hundred miles and a ferry away but it's worth the travel!

I'm not sure what the best option to getting it home will be, my original plan was to get a plane over there, check it over, pay the man sign it over to myself then get a ferry back and drive it home but insuring it with 0 NCB is like a 700£ deposit which I'm just gonna lose and I'll be cancelling it when I get home as I'm 21 and get my first NCB in about a month.. Worse case that is what I'll just do..

My brother mentioned about just getting the AA to tow it home via my breakdown with them? I've been with them about 18 months never used them once and I've got the top package so I should be covered? I'll have a look on their website to see what they say ect even if they charge me a fee is x amount per mile?

You can get a 24 hr insurance policy and drive it home, price depends on what car it is obviously, and the fact that your only 20 will push it up a bit, but stil cheaper than the £700 option,
The AA could be a little more than you imagine, they'll only transport it that distance if they can't fix it, and they will try to fix it 1st so you'd need to do something to it to stop it driving or being repaired as they won't just recover it home for you if it's not broken down

You will still need it to be covered as far as I know you can get day insurance if you need to drive it

Sorry forgot to mention that, I can't get temp cover as the car is over 15 years old. I tried 3-4 of the common ones but none will touch it. will cost around a grand to just get it home, insurance, fuel, ferry hmmm

Worth asking some of the logistics guys for a quote to transport it.

Alex at Lizard Logistics is highly recommended.

Temp insurance don't limit the age of the vehicle, I use it regularly for my 89 cab just for one or two days insurance.
I think your age would be the problem as a lot of them want you to be over 25, you don't have a single friend or family member who can take a days insurance and accompany you to drive it back?

As above that would be the cheapest option if you havent got a mate (over 25 that will do it). Just remember ferry crossing may be a couple of quid more as you'll have a van/loader but defo not £700!!

What is it you've bought?

I use lee at Essex transporter hire....based in Maldon,Essex. Hire a Movano based flatbed for about 100. Then off you go.
