Default Solar powered battery chargers, any good?

IM thinking of getting one, not to charge a flat battery but to stop my existing battery from going flat.
My car sits without being used for months at a time and the battery keeps going flat.
I want to keep it and the car alive so the alarm still works while it's parked up.
Are solar powered chargers any good?
What do you recommend?

I was thinking something like this

I use to use one on my old escort cos and now use it on my track car which can sit for weeks at a time without being started and never had a problem with a battery dying.

That probably won't cover what your alarm drains from the battery during the day, never mind overnight.

See if you can find one with more Watts

Yes they work really well. Friend of mine uses one on his car that sits in the garage and comes out on the occasional sunny day. He was forever killing batteries but not had a flat since.

Modern solar panels don't even need to be in direct sunlight, they work at the full efficiency in just daylight.

Don't forget if you are plugging it into your cig lighter socket and the power to that goes off when the ignition is off, you will need to connect it straight to the battery.

Hi marky,

Living in Prestatyn I can see why you work on the motor homes and caravans, was there last weekend at priest haven sands..

Where did you get you 2.8 mAh from? I'm looking For one for a project of mine so would be interested to lay my hands on one
