Default Sapphire front & rear bumper removal >

Hi All,

Looking or some advice (and pics if poss!)

Both bumpers coming off soon for a respray but I've heard some horror stories about height adjusters ? (particularly on the front) ?

Any tips or pointers greatly appreciated !

Thanks,

Loads of wd40
One tip I would say is drill a hole through the front section and nut and bolt the number on as its only on sliders and easy to pull off
And carful undoing the 2 13mms on the side of number

The bumpers are a piece of piss to remove. The adjusters will have probably seized up,after all once they were fitted there is not a lot of need to mess with them.

Take the adjusters off the bumper and heat them up.A small gas torch will do.They will soon become free.

So where are the main bolts that hold it on ? Under the arches ? And these adjusters - where are they located ?

Rear bumper, put your hand at the bottom of the quarter up behind the bumper. There is a bracket on either side. They just turn maybe a quarter of half turn and pull out.Iirc then its bolted on in the boot floor.Undo slide out.

The front is where you may have a bit of a problem.Access is easy but like you say its only held on in two places.Same as back side of the bumper stick your hand up but they are bolted on at the front. Many sieze up or are rounded or snap or the whole thing turns and you have a hole in the wing after .Oh dont forget to disconnect the front fogs.

Once you have them off its easy to see the adjusters and how to get them off to free them up.Also once the front one is removed the two adjusters sit in the chassis rail.Dont lose the rubbers .

You can get alloy replacement brackets for the front off Jimmy on here I think.

Try not to break anything

The 2 square tubed sliders once fitted I drilled 2 holes through the front support section into the sliders and bolted them tight the adjusted to line up nice

Also on the rears be carful as the have 2 mushroom type locators which can easyily be broken

Thats the best thing to do as Jay has pictured. Also if you look at his second picture to the right you see the original bracket on the floor Thats how a lot look when they come off .

On ebay the alloy brackets are £200

My original brackets were seized and just span on the ratchet so they had to be cut off there alot better than the original brackets alot stronger

Yes there is that. Its just a pita where Cosworth tax is added I suppose

To the op if you still cant get ya head around it have a quick look in the restoration room. There are loads of pictures showing bumpers off where the cars are having bodywork done so you can see the mounts etc .
