Default fault code p0131 help

got the above code on our sportka saying:
(0BD II P0131 Oxygen Sensor Circuit Low Voltage (Bank 1, Sensor 1)
what exactly does this mean? I cleared it and it went away, but does it mean the sensor is faulty? The same thing happened about a year ago and never did it again until today.

cheers for help

Yes, usually means the pre-cat lambda sensor is knackered.

Most likely one of your lambda sensors is buggered, I thought the fault code usually indicated whether it was pre or post cat.

Bugger, beaten to it by Richie.

Bank 1, sensor 1 is pre cat, bank 1, sensor 2 is post cat.

If it was a V6 and had 2 manifolds with 4 sensors for example, it would be bank 1 sensor 1, bank 1 sensor 2, bank 2 sensor 1 and bank 2 sensor 2!

There was a TSB for these years ago where the pre-cat (upsteam) HEGO (LAMBDA) sensor is replaced and a PCM software update to cure this.

If the software update wasn't done with the modified sensor it could cause premature failure of the sensor/driveability issues.
