What is a Intel CeleronM 1.4GHz in speed up against , a Pentium 4 as in is it the same as if i had a P4 1.4ghz chip?

no, it's a little faster. Has no L2 cache. Good for internet/office applications, playing back video.

No good for editing, gaming etc

so would the CeleronM 1.4GHz be ok with a tv cardbus that needs ,
Pentium 4 1 GHz or higher required
Pentium 4 2 GHz or higher recommended

?

whats this for? video editing?

celerons are basically budget pentiums


also nowadays processor speed really dont mean much...

you can get a 2.0ghz chip that will kick the arse of a 3ghz chip hands down.

Nobody spotted the "M".

Up to 1MB cache and a short pipeline means quite good for games.

nope, just want a lapptop that i can watch and record digital TV and analog, and the cardbus says min of p4 1ghz recs p4 2ghz, but dont know where i stand with a celeronM 1.4ghz processor

I know it does
Hence why I mentioned the short pipeline. Very good for gaming but slower than a P4 for video editing.
