Default St170 help?

Hi guys, I'm new to the forum so take it easy

I've got around 4k to build a decent motor for my st170.

I've read up on the various different conversions but I can't decide which to go for.

I'll still be using the car daily, I'm hoping for around the 300bhp marker.

Any ideas which is the best route to go down?

Thanks, Chris.

Cheers for the advice guys, it's crossed my mind getting rid of the 170, just want something a bit different that can shock a few people.

It will eventually just be my toy to take on track days too.

How much work is involved using the rs engine?

Thanks chris

You could zetec turbo the ST170 well within that budget, although I've heard the horror stories of heads warping (or something along those lines), I'd get a blacktop zetec and build that up, not sure if it would see 300bhp but it would be close

how about supercharging the st170 lump, you can get all the parts from the states, to bolt straight on.

For far less than 4k an easy 300bhp Zetec Turbo is achievable using your current engine and a black top head.

Hmmm.....I'll look into the supercharger idea, are they hard to fit?

Mine is supercharged and 300bhp and I'll tell you one thing it'll cost a shit load more than 4k to do it properly, sell the st170 and get a mk1 Rs, there's one on here pretty cheap its a cat c or d with no tax or mot but for 4 and abit grand it's a good step up from the st170 regardless...
