Default ford fuel pipe clip help required!

Hi all havent been on here for ages but i need some ideas. Basicly i have a v6 mk3 mondeo with a corroded and leaking fuel pipe. Its corroded just down from the plastic clip at the filter. So ive got a piece from an old filter to clip into the plastic connector and have joined fuel hose from this to the fuel pipe (ive cut out about 10mm of corroded section) with 2 jubilee clips.

But it dont look very tidy really and ive been looking on ebay and found 8mm pushfit plumbing connectors or even compression fittings. Any other ideas anyone come accross this before?

Obviously the propper fix is new fuel pipe but its 170£ amd looks like need to remove subframe to replace, unless anyone knows different?
