Stolen Ford RS stories...
Everyone seems to know of one either back in the day or recently that's gone missing...
Must of been at one point the most stolen car?...
Some say Cosworths used to be un-ownable...

ok, not a cosworth, but years ago I converted my 4 door to rs turbo running gear. After a week or two, I awoke to the sound of my horn going off. It was around 1am, and I went outside thinking it was an alarm fault, going in via the passenger door as that was the closest to my front door and I popped the bonnet and pulled the fuse.
It wasnt until the morning going to work I seen the drivers lock had been busted and in the attempt of breaking the steering lock, the had forced the horn in which caused the constant horn going off.
I then ended up putting a cut off switch from the coil to help prevent any other attempts. Never had an issue afterwards.
Then after selling my 2wd saphire Cosworth, I had a golf gti 16v and the idiots popped out the VW badge from the grille and popped the bonnet, hence the alarm sounded and they buggered off. The car was ok.
Many a time a car was done over in my street, and I was fast asleep. My mum often heard of it happening and I had told he to wake me.
A young lad had his car borken into but the thief was challenged by a neighbour with a baseball bat. Th thief had a knife. I am not sure what happened, but said arsehole ran away and the cops turned up and told my neighbour he would have been done if he had hit the thief. Had I been woken up I would have sent a couple of pellets into the bastards legs! Easily around 1997-1999

PassionFord Post Whore!!
It's amazing how so many have been nicked over the years and so many that are never recovered!? Some of the ones that spring to mind are Bruce Reads black 3door, B5 JAM? (Esc Cos) and, more recently, that Escort stolen, being towed by the white Astra van... Remember coming out of my girlfriends house, years ago, finding my n/s bonnet vent had been broken out, never thought any more about it, but looking back, did someone have a go ay it?!?

I remember all the fast ford thieving going on back in the day. I spoke to a guy that lived up north who spoke of all the stealing that went on up there. He said some would sell something like a Calibra Turbo for Ł200.
I remember all the cheap cossies in the autotrader back when you couldn't insure them. Remember me and my mate getting insurance quotes for a laugh. I can also remember roughly when insurance fell. Within a year or so a golf gti went from virtually uninsurable to pretty cheap, and likewise a cossie. My mate got a quote for Ł900 on a saph cossie at a car show from a specialist, spurred both of us to get one.
I did get targeted myself. I had an RS500 replica in moonstone, a very very good one with all genuine RS500 parts (tail and lower, front bumper) the only way you could tell from the outside that it wasn't a 500 was the intercooler, but even then it had a normal 3dr intercooler and the genuine shrouding to direct the air so even the trained eye would think it was a normal cos with 500 bits.
I had a couple of blokes that were keen for it. They came in the car park with a loader lorry in broad daylight and were all over it but my boss told them to fuck off. Then a while later they waited in a lay by for me to leave work and I spotted them as I left. They followed me about 10 miles and kept a distance, before I got home I put my foot down and left them, turned into my lane and they were nowhere to be seen. I was just shutting the garage door as they crept past both straining their necks and my heart sunk. Got up a couple of times that night but my garage was secure and was behind chained gate so thought I should be ok. Went down in the morning and the chain was on the floor and they'd broken the lock off the garage door but not quite got it open, the dogs must have disturbed them. Wasn't a great feeling. After that I fitted land mines and door mines with blank 12g shells which when they were set off would make my clifford alarm go off just from the bang, i knew that because I set them off myself on more than one occasion! Woke you up at 7am when you'd forgotten about them lol
Only other things we had touched were an xr3i which was nicked from outside the house and found in a field about a mile away with no wheels. And my dad's escort van which he found in a pikey camp about ten miles away (tip off from an associate at a scrap yard) but the police weren't interested.
I still don't understand the soft touch on TWOC'ers in this country. If they'd been caught in the act by us, they'd have seen the wrong end of a shotgun without doubt. I'd like to string them up in a tree (like farmers do with crows) to deter others.

I dont get why the police are afraid? They arent black/brown or muslims so there is no race or minority "pc" come back. Even the pikeys arent stong enough to take on an entire constabulary.
The police could crush the pikey problem if they so wished.
And thats how it should be IMO.
no chavvy cunt teen would TWOC if he knew it would cost him 5 years minimum.
Its the same with police chases here. In yankland, they NEVER give up a pursuit as ALL blame for what happens is rightly laid on the criminal who is running.
Here the soft ass british cops give up any chase where the TWOCer takes lots of risks on the grounds of "health and safety".
that sends a direct message to any criminal that if you want to escape, drive like a total cunt and the police will back off.
That then means all scum WILL drive like complete cunts ALL the time.
Where as if they knew there was no escape, some wouldnt bother to run.

the police are scared to death of pikeys. I had a bit of a fisticuffs with a couple in a supermarket (don't ask) late at night when the shop staff called the police. I made it clear I wasn't intrested in police involvement but as soon as I said im not gonna pursue it, the window of the dog section van went up and the plod disappeared. I understand they have better things to do but I got the impression they didn't want to know once pikeys were mentioned

10K+ Poster!!
The Police don't give a toss about stolen cars nowadays. They'll be happy to give you a crime reference number and wipe there hands off it.
I remember when Bruce's car got stolen. I guess whoever took it didn't realise it was quite a high profile car.

Is it still the case that the police will refuse to retrieve stolen property from a pikey camp even if given evidence they have it?? all because they are afraid the pikeys will kick off??

The Police only seem to be interested in the easy work. I was working up in London and while in the back of my van some cnut went into the front and stole my wallet and sat nav. I saw the cnut but didn't put two and two together until I went to leave and noticed what'd happened. When i rang the Police it seemed to be handled by a call centre of useless twats. I even had an 'update' about a week or so later which went something along the lines of "Just giving you an update on your case... There's nothing we can do so case closed"
I said to the kid on the phone.. What about the fact I gave you a description, what about the fact he used various cash points and the fact they'd have times of use, cctv footage and coupled with my description be able to match said twat against (probable) previous. It was just met with silence and a goodbye.
If I'd have caught the twat in the act and put a hammer through his knee caps that'd be the sort of nice easy job the Police would like, they could do me for GBH, unnecessary force or whatever else they could. Then the bloke would get compensation off the state with all our hard working tax money and probably be able to live off the state for life while I went to jail, lost my house, job and family.

Too many posts.. I need a life!!
Pikeys tried to nick my pet greyhound couple of years back from the field I was exercising him in. Three of the fuckers tried it on, kicked the first one in the knee, and heard it snap, never saw them again after that... Reading this thread, and so many others of late, has made my mind up to fit a tracker as well as a cat 1 when my S2 comes back out from her resto in a couple of weeks.
Sorry state of the world we live in I guess.

There's bin loads of cossie and Rs turbos go missing around my way but the one I will never forget was quite a few yrs ago when I was around a m8s house and he showed me his CCTV video of a 3dr getting lifted off of someone's drive by a forklift truck, and not one person was seen on the video, how could you not hear anything?

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
Back in the early 90's I woke up to the noise of the sapph starting, looked out the bedroom window rubbing my eyes still half asleep not knowing if I was dreaming! or was actually watching the cosworth being driven off, then before the reality of what was actually happening had set in it had already driven round the corner, thinking it had now gone I phoned the police and then slowly got dressed to go outside, when I opened the front door I could hear the friendly burble of a YB Engine calling me so I walked round the corner following the familiar sound only to find it sitting in the middle of the road with the doors wide open waiting for me, all that saved it was a brake peddle lock which they had bent trying to force it off, I was amazed that they got past a top of the range alarm but was foiled by a 35 quids Pedlock.

someone i know reversed his saph cosworth off his driveway nipped in house came back out and was gone. also a mate had an xr3i stolen from his drive only for a fortnight later it to return minus windscreen with a note on drivers seat saying keep it mate you have more problems than we have

My old man had his Cortina stonlen off the drive at teat-time, between 5.30 and 6.30pm - gravel drive infront of the house!!
Got a call from the police saying 'your car is sat across a drive in coundon with the doors ajar and interior light on'
My old man was amazed, never heard a thing, seems they used it just to get home as it was raining!!

It's the stories like Bruce Read's 3dr and the B5 JAM Escort Cossie that gets me, it's crazy to think no one saw them getting taken, and that no parts have ever surfaced! A real shame

because the top of the range alarm is still wired into a very basic loom. It can only really immobolise a few circuits. Most immobilise the relay not the actual circuit. Relays take seconds to bypass. Even proper fuel cut switches etc are easy to find and bypass.

I know all too well about the peelers and their lack of interest when it comes to cars going missing. I got my Fiesta back in an uncooth way. But at least it worked!!

Not fords but 2 high profile cars nicked near me.Both from the nec classic car show.
FERRARI F40 nicked by chavs and joyrided around local council estate.
They other was uhar kankanuns rally evo nicked off the truck as it was being unloaded.
Was chased by the police 3 days later and they crashed and legged it.
The car came into the body shop where I worked waiting to be collected by rally team. They left a damaged wheel behind so we used it to wrap the hose pipe around in the valeting bay.
The only valeting bay with a magnesium rally car wheel as hose reel.
Oh,just remembered a lad I knew back in the day stole a brandnew ESCORT COSSIE off a transporter outside Bristol street ford dealership. He sold it an hour later for Ł3000.
