I'm after a little bit of advice, I need a new work horse to haul bikes around at the weekend and for some reason I keep being drawn to saab estate's!

I ticks all the boxes and its only half hour down the road from me which is a bonus but up reading the description it seems it has 2 faults,

1 The gear box feels a wee bit sloppy (according to the seller it could be a linkage issue)

2 it can lose power for a couple of second on pull off!

So are these common faults saabs suffer from that can be fixed or is a sign to not even bother going to take a look at it

I have an 08 9-3 TiD estate which is a bloody lovely car and since Saab went bust the prices have plummeted over (unjustified) fears over parts supplies. The V6 diesel is supposed to be a bloody nice engine - but (there's always a but) - prone to self-destruction, although much better than the 2.2 diesels which are just pants apparently. 9-5's themselves of that era are very under-rated cars so if you get a good one you'll be very happy with it. They're pretty well built and most rattles and squeeks can be cured by spending some time with a screwdriver checking the fit of the interior panels.
