Default Ford focus ST170 new stereo unit help!?!?

Good afternoon,

I am looking to buy a new stereo for my boyfriends birthday. I have illiterate about cars and would love to get some professional help !

He owns a ford focus early 2004 st170. I know his current stereo is large shape and has a 6 Cd changer. Other then that... I know no more.

I am looking to buy a double din. I have done a bit of research and questions on some products I have searched for stated you need x,y,z additional parts which is fine. However, other websites stated that the stated vehicle can not fit a double din.

Please could you clarify whether it can or not. If not please guide me to what additional fascias parts I will need to buy to fit a single din stereo unit.

Hopefully I will be contacted soon by someone, desperate here !!

Thank you.

Verity

Yep, I have found that one also.

So if I buy a double din stereo with that fascia and the other adaptor sit will fit ??

What about a single din ?

Single din you will just need a normal facia adaptor

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ford-Focus...item2589ec5e59

One option above, to fit the double din you also need to trim some of the dash. Not a big job 5 mins.

Facia adaptor panel. It does the same as the second link I posted. Just depends on which look you prefer. Cost around Ł5 on ebay.

Amazing. Think I'll do single din with touch screen. Seems a lot cheaper then double din.

Thank you for all your help

Are you looking at one of the motorised screens that folds out of the dash? If so they are great until they go wrong, I've had a few and they don't last much more than 2-3 years before playing up.

Do you think getting a double din screen, the adapters etc and the fascia, shave the edge down like you said - all this is better then the single? I don't mind either way. I need a shopping list of stuff I need to get and I'll wrap it up and give it to the boyfriend to figure out the rest. But I don't wanna just buy a double din and let him figure that you need parts and stuff. That's unfair. Haha.

He loves his car and would always go for a st or rs. His st has its original stereo and I hear him moan about it when he drives mine 2014 Toyota as I have touchscreen and Bluetooth, reversing cam etc. his stereo is shit so he deserves and upgrade !!

My first fast Ford was an ST170, then got a mk2 ST.

If you want to go double din, then these are the parts you need,

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FORD-Focus...item3a70291389

A new fascia with double din size hole as the original is only 1.5din size. This listing also has the wiring loom adapter, the release keys for the old stereo, basically everything you need to fit a double din unit into his focus. Then just buy any double din unit you wish.

If you want to stay single din size, then buy this

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FORD-Focus...item519e393c8c

It will turn the 1.5din hole into single din and gives you a storage pocket too.
