Default Megasquirt installation?

Easy enough to do myself? I have a ford focus mk1 and am capable of crimping properly and soldering.

I was thinking of pulling the necessary wires straight from the EEC-V ECU in the drivers foot-well and soldering them straight onto the MS loom, then running the wires over to the glovebox where i will sit the ECU.
Is this how people have done it on their focus before, or is there a better way?

OR ... Is there any garages or anyone here who can professionally fit it, and at what price?

Cheers!

Yeah I would be using an MS2 anyway. I'll have to check out DIYautotune. The plan was to get a built ECU from extraEFI and solder the wires from my loom in. Problem with plugging in my loom in means I'd have to get another plug and rewire in the air con gauages and various other bits that the standard ECU controls

Make sure whatever ecu you fit has scp bus support. The dash on the mk1 focus has several functions powered by a databus using fords Standard coorporate protocol.

For simplicity and ease of installation I would not cut into your original loom, just wire into whats needed in the engine bay (sensor's, injectors, coil pack, etc).

MS2 does not.
So would be better leaving the stock ECU in place to run whatever needs it.

That sounds so confusing, well the only gauge which would run off the MS would be the Tacho.. Fuel and temp will be off normal loom still.
There are so many factors to this megasquirt!

So where would I get an input for the the megasquirt? Can I just splice into the crank sensor wires?
