I had Konis on my 3dr with various springs, wasnt to impressed with the ride and NEVER was i totally happy with the ride height.

Then had AVO coilovers, on softest i felt it was more comfy than the Konis, certainly felt like it handled better, and finally i had the ride height exactly how i wanted it front n rear.

So i vote AVOs

Steve,
You get what you pay for with suspension . The AVOs and GAZ are a budget product purely for cosmetic purposes only and are not "really" suitable for track days (by AVO's own admission in a recent issue of PF). Also you will find that if you go for the spring rates specified by these companies as being suitable for the car, the ride turns to rat-shit.

The new generation of AVO from that small list of two

They now work like Bilsteins with the inverted insert and come with rebound adjustability. Over twice the price of the Gaz stuff so they are not toys anymore The stock AVO is no good as Mike said, but the specialist one is much much better

Steve,
Because the bump and rebound rates are not sufficient for a start, plus they're not heavy duty enough....

The half decent new ones retail from their website at £225.60 each plus p&p

Thats circa £170 each plus roughly £22 for a spring rate of your choice (plus vat and carriage).

Thats for a steel bodied, double damped, spherical bearing coilover.

I got a set of coil overs for my 3 dr but have since been told the the turrets are not up to the job and need to be modified ie made stronger??? on the gaz web site they tell you to get the turrets made stronger, does make sense as all the weight is on that one shock rather than a spring and a seperate shock?????????
I have also been told you need to bash the rear inner wing in a touch to get enough clearence for the coilover??

I hope someone can shed some more light on this subject

If you don't want to spend too much then the GAZ coilovers seem to be the ones to go for, and that's what i'll be putting on my escy next month...and coseymad is the man to supply them..
