What car will go up in value the most in a few years?
Right i have a mk4 3i cab which i have spent a small fortune on and its one of the cleanest around. I was looking to change it this year but not sure if to keep it or not? Been looking at
xr2i 1.6/1.8
205 gti
Possibly a nova
309 gti
Xr2 if i can find a cheapish one
Mk1 fiesta
Rs turbo but dont really want one
I want something that is fun, reliable, and that will go up in value!
Not sure if to keep my 3i as ive spent so much on it will they start to rise in value!?

Looking to stay with ford tbh rs1800/xr2i 1.8 would be nice.
205s are nice too but going up in value quick!
Had the chance 2 years ago to buy a mint rs1800 for Ł400. Didnt realise how rare they are!

a proper iconic hot hatch, not some jap crap followers
205's etc in good condition will always go up in price. Cars like that are part of the early hot hatch history and will have stirred the memorys of many, hence popular now.
Most of the jap crap cheap imports and shite like a corsa gsi wernt great cars then nor now and are only going up in value due to rarity rather than popularity or iconic status.
Much the same way the original XR2's etc will always be in demand more than the later 2i's that followed.
Going up in value and making money are two different things.
Also what someone is asking price wise for thier car and what its worth is two different things. eg looked on ebay other day for a laugh and mongaloids are genuinely expecting to get Ł2k plus for unrestored half rotten xr2i's that are fit for the scrapper etc

AS a side note, what about the values of series 2's?. As a owner, and my fav ford, does anyone think they will follow the Series 1 values, and go mental?

You have to think of the age of the cars that are popular with people that have the money to buy them. IMO at the moment it's the cars that were icons with folk in their late 30's.
What you wanna do is think of the cars on limited runs today that will be classics of the future.

Is this thread about car enthusiasm or to flaunt your cock when you have made a few bob on car, a few years down the line!?
Thats the difference between true car enthusiasts and sheep!

It all depands on how much you want to use it and how long you want to hold on to it. But if you stick with limited models or numbers it should be a good investment no matter what you buy.
I think a Williams Clio could be a sound investment, you can pick up a decent example for not bad money and it will always be iconic to people of that era I'm not saying there a good car, interior is shocking and it will be in bits more than it will be working.

I had a friend in Brighton who's dad had 15 Renault 5gtturbos .he bought each one from ebay and clubs . All for peanuts they are in a barn in Brighton he told me and my mate to watch and learn that was 6 years ago .they are still not worth much but he stated restoring them and covering them up one by one .i don't believe he will make such a big profit becouse he is like 50 something I mean how much are they going to go up before he is dead.but my mate will get them passed to him in say 20 years then .he would have learnt he dad wasted his time ..but get some nice $$$$

MK1 Mondeo. Rare sight now days, cost ford billions to design - what's not to like about an old diesel mk1 mondeo? (if you get the chance to see one that is)

I personally think the mk1 frs will be very collectable in years to come.
Think it was fords last limited production run for a car apart from the rs 500 focus

Which will go up in value mine hopefully lol.
If you want to stick with a ford id go for a mk5 mk6 rs2000 if I was buying another make mk3 vr6 golfs are creeping up in value and are still relatively cheap at the moment unlike pug 205's and mk2 gti golfs that you already have to pay a premium for a good one.

Anything from the 80's in good nick is going up in value...
Look at some of the price tags for boggo mk1 fiestas...
Nova gte, sr, sri, gsi
Mk1,2 astra gte, Mk3 gsi
Mk2,3 Cavalier Sri, gsi, turbo
You don't see any around...
Renault 5 Turbo
Even the old Orion's are going up in value...

Clio 1.8 16v not the williams but its baby brother. I had one when I was 18 and loved it. Sold it for Ł900 when i got my s2 when i was 19 and saw it for sale last year for Ł2495. If I could find another one at the right money id have it no questions asked. Try looking for one there rarer than the williams now.

its a false economy unless you have storage space and can manitain the cars on a small budget.
any tax insurance servicing etc will negate any increase in value.
there are cars you 'wont lose money on' but ones that will rise in value, with the budget you have and the cars you have looked at your cash is better in the bank!

............
The only things that will appreciate significantly will be 100% original, low miles unmodded cars of interest
ie
205gti
Anything that gets used much or isnt 100% original wont make you much cash as collectors want original stuff.

Good quality J Tin stuff will always be worth good money as they're fantastic cars, EK Type R's fetch silly money, all the GTR's and even the GTS-T's are worth a pretty penny.
Depends how much you intend on using it, if it's an investment then you need to be buying as clean as possible initially.

Agree on above, must be original, low miles and low owners if you are looking to invest in a car.
If you tick all 3 boxes there will always be someone happy to pay a premium.

not sure on values but if rare is anything to do with it, i cant remember the last time i saw a mk3 orion ('91 +) although i have seen mk1 and 2. the earliest will be at least 23yrs old by now.

S2's don't have the racing pedigree of the S1's, so no IMO.
