Default Smartbox/telematics removal

Didn't really know where to put this so apologies if it's in the wrong section. I was wondering if anyone else, has had to put up with a smartbox/telematics insurance policy as I have? Fortunately after a year with something constantly watching over me I renewed yesterday for insurance without a "box" but when it comes to removing the box I'm a little lost? Obviously I have no affiliation with the previous company but I'd rather have the peace of mind that it's out my car not transmitting data still so does anyone have any experience in removing it and where I can find it on the car, I've tried under steering wheel, under glove box, in the glove box and behind the instrument cluster and I can't see anything behind the radio......It's a MK5 fiesta again sorry if this is the wrong section, any help would be appreciated!

ring the insurers. They have to tell you where they fitted it especially as you are no longer using it.

Is it not the property of the insurance company? Tell them to come and get it or you'll start charging them a storage fee

How do they work then? Plug straight in to the OBD port or is it a bit more complex than that?

insurance companys are the worst payers in the country for genuine bills let alone ones made up by customers

ask vaughant how bad insurers are at coughing up for "authorised" work, even at a set price. They would be unable to get credit terms anywhere if they wernt so big and the bodyshops so small.

Got Telematics on my work van.
Another bloke thought he'd be clever and took the fuse out that fed it.
Obviously, as it was an active system, they noticed it and bollocked him.
Apparently, the one used on our vans have a SIM card in?!
