I've been searching a family car now my 3DR 12 plate Fiesta has become a chore to use, I'm tempted by a 5DR MK1 Focus or 5DR MK4 Golf.
I'm not really clued up on prices of ST170, Is this a good price for the car i've found:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3212239828...84.m1423.l2649
I know the centre caps are missing and there could be no tax as its not mentioned.....
Thoughts please?

I sold my 03 plate one last year with same milage, mint powder coated wheels and 30mm springs and a exhaust on for £1200 and it was immaculate so I'd say that's abit pricey. Look on auto trader you can get a newer one with less miles for 2k. There's that many about due to high fuel economy and high tax that you can take your time and find a really nice specced one if that's what you really want. I personally loved the car but alot of expense for the performance imo

Thanks for the replies, We didn't view it in the end. The seller just didn't want to work for the sale.
He messed me around on viewing it.... He had his phone turnt off, so missed about 4 of my calls, and ignored a text message.
I did try again, and he replied 3 mins later.
His reply to my text asking to view the car 'what car?'
That annoyed me, so I replied 'the ST'..... Then he decided to reply 45 mins exact after my text and said 'thats fine, see you soon'.
In the end I told him i'm viewing another car now, so he replied 'ok let me know when you are coming.'
For a second hand car dealership, I don't expect to be treated this way.

Despite the golf being in the same class i found the focus to have more room.
If you've got your heart set on a focus i'd view and drive a few, there's plenty to choose from but there are some dogs out there.
Usual thing with the st170 though is if you pay top money for a nice one make sure its had the DMF done at some point or factor that into any haggling, ours needed replacing at 74k-ish. People offload them when they think a big bill is looming. It'll be approaching 10 years old or may be over and the cam belt is due at 100k/10yrs.
Ours has been a good family car for us and our eldest is nearly 15 now, its still comfortable for all 4 of us.

Hi Mark, We had a MK4 Golf GT tdi 1.9. Me and the Mrs loved it, 55mpg on a run and never let us down. We put 10,000 miles on it and still made money on the car. I have two mates that have them with over 150,000 on the clock and still going well. We only sold it when the second came along and needed a bigger boot.
