Evo the best value?
Not so sure about that. Impreza is cheaper to buy, parts are everywhere. For a £5k budget you stand a much better chance of getting a good one, so I think it would certainly be better value in this case. You could argue that the Evo has slightly better performance, but that very much depends on the model you buy, and most people would struggle to really find the difference.
All irrelevant I suppose though, as the OP has decided that all Imprezas are shit

i can entertain up to 6k which from research and general browsing brings alot more than most think, evo 4/5/6 all in that with some 7's too, ok cossie drop into it aswel but im thinking of steering clear of cossies now as there such a minefield. imprezas just too much chav stigma and sound like a beetle on steroids. mr2 bit inpractical due too 2 seats, i am warming to the s4 idea but il wish i just saved for a rs4 instead lol. i have even seen a few nice mk2 escorts within my budget and a cosworth capri.

i LOVE my impreza hence i still have it,,, though i cant be arsed to put it back together again lol
honestly considering it cost me 4500 7 years ago i think and overall ive put close to 14k into it,,, at the time a Evo 6 waa 11k plus cost of mods is HUGE compared to a impreza
AYC issues when over 400bhp or if used on track compared which costs money,,, cost of tuning is similer but impreza cost less than half to buy,,,,, is it twice the car to drive ( ignoring that the impreza is prob the most ugly car EVER made with that stupid scoop)
if i bought a evo i doubt i would be able to use it every day for work for 3 years and 2 ring trips clocking up 45k miles before the gearbox retired ( ignore the 2 after that in a few months lol)
they are a Marmite car though but drive one. when i bought my Impreza i was looking for a E36 M3 as i HATED the Impreza till i drove mine though it is a V3 STI so was a lucky drive as the UK ones done drive as quick
