Some old fella comes to view and had a good nose round and says how tidy it is 7 you can tell its never been used commercially etc. Hears it run look at all the main dealer service history right upto date then says its too dear. Its an 02 and I want a grand. He says you can get a 2009 model for 1500 quid. I said if you know where I can get a 2009 vauxhall movano for 1500 quid then please enlighten me as Ill buy 3. Lol. I know. Cheeky fuckers. Then again ive been known to be ruthless when buying vehicles. My mrs wont come with me anymore as she says i bully people into giving in lol. Maybe its karma. I always haggle for a bargain. I think its worth what im asking all day so wont give in just yet

i dont mind people giving me a cheeky bid when selling, cant blame them for trying,
i do it myself all the time, and occasionaly it works so fair enough
but sometimes they realy are just taking the piss
if he happens to come back tell him i'll give him 2 grand each for his 2009 vans
then if he sells me 2 he can have your van for nothing
a grand dont buy you much these days, he does sound like a time waster not a buyer

so what do you do when buying? walk up and hand over the full amount without question? or try your luck at getting it cheaper?

You've always got to ask for 50 quid off for fuel home but if i see something that looks overpriced i dont think hmm i'll haggle him down i'll see if i can make him see sense. bollocks. leave them to it. wait until you see one that is in your price range and go and have a look at it. if its a shed you need to walk away and check your tight arse self and look at buying for more money.

If i go to buy a car or van i go up with cash in my pocket. Simple as.

I Sold My S13 200Sx. I was asking 1500 quid, 900 cheaper than the next one for sale that i could find and i still had one guy come look at it 3 times. First he came and looked round, heard it run etc. offered me 1200 quid. Second time he came round and i took him on a test drive, offered me 1300 quid. third time he came round and offered me 1500. i said i'd think about it should've seen his face! (i did sell it to him though) but seriously who the fuck kicks the tyres 3 times! total losers.

Some people are just p*ss takers.

I'm all for haggling a bargain but some people just don't get it.

The most ludicrous one was a friend of mine was selling his 06 Suzuki GSXR 750. He was asking £4000 at the time. He had someone ring him, give a story about how its his dream bike etc, but he had fallen on hard times and wondered if he would take £300 for it!!! He text him every day of the auction to check and see if he had changed his mind!

I've got a tidy wee VW Polo for sale just now, was a trade in and I've put it up for £495, car has a decent spec and is mot'd and taxed...however I still get clowns asking me if £250 is any good to me???!

I'm all for making an offer but I just ignore daft offers and timewasters!

Stuck my old but tidy and straight A4 Avant on ebay a few years back. Within no time I had an e-mail offering to give me £600 for it. Oddly I declined

Trying to barter a bit off is par of the course these days.

But i hate the bullshit and lies most people use with it. "i can get xxx cheaper than that" etc etc. No you cant or you would have bought it. Just be honest and say its more than im looking to pay and be done with it.

IMO by far the worst timewasters with cheap second hand vehicles are asians. It might be in thier culture to haggle more than us westerners are used to, but too often it takes the fucking piss.

Always stick an extra 100 quid on it so when they barter you down 100 quid your still gonna get your asling price.

Trouble is when knocking a bit off before they have seen it, is that when they arrive, the price agreed to them is the new asking price and they want a bit more off.

Had a guy come down from Birmingham for my car, agreed a price on the phone as the lowest i'd take, he came down and tried to offer me less than agreed price. Got my keys off him and walked in my house and said you've had a wasted trip.
5 minutes of him on his phone outside, he eventually knocked on my door and gave me the full amount.

Another:
This might be a bit cunt'ish, but a mate of mine was selling a bmw 330ci. A fucking moron was calling & emailing him about it, he was picking the most stupid faults from the pics he'd sent him. So he "agreed" a price considerably less than the asking price, gave the cock a false address and the bloke & his mate drove from huddersfield way to "collect" the car.

I once had a guy come to look at a car i had for sale, looked around it drove it, looked around again after the test drive, asked to to drive it again i agreed, got back to my home we agreed a price, all was well up until this point, I went and got the paperwork out grabbed a pen, just about to start writing a receipt etc and the guy said "i forgot to mention but i can only buy it in 4 weeks when ive been paid" ..... What an utter cock....

The cheaper the car the more haggling I used too get,but a few times people would buy without a test drive and pay near full asking price

Worse was once some one turned up pissed asking for a test drive told him to go away chap

Par for course!! Lotta chancers out there - possibly offering you what webuyanycar.com prices!!

Out of the 25 odd cars I've brought & sold I can count on 1 hand on cars I've sold for asking price, they went to mates of mine.
