L8 ECU help
Hi there lads I'm after a bit of help I sent my L8 ECU away to have it tested as I had never had it running well the out come I was told that it could be the chip that was in it or the baby bord I was told that they did get the ECU to by just putting a L6 chip in it . So any way I got hold of a new baby bord and fitted it into my mates L8 and it worked spot on we then put my L8 chip in it which would not run the pump on the car so we no the chip has a problem . So with that my mate has gone home so I set about putting my wasted spark bord in the L8 as both my cars run them and my mates escort dose all so any way I'v now done the mod and the wasted spark bord is in so as I was told it would run with my L6 chip with the baby bord removed I pluged it into the car and ges wot no pumps still I'v tryed the baby bord in with the L6 chip in it still no pumps . I'm thinking about linking the pump out to see if I can run the car that way . I'm going to try my mates chip in it tomorrow and see if the car will fire I no the spec on his chip is not for my car but we did put his ECU on my car and it did run to a fashion I'm just wundorring if the the info I'v been told about the L6 chip running it is rong . Has any one had any problems like this

You can not interchange chips between any of the ECU's, the electronics are totally different!
Being an L8 without the board is an L6 essentially that may possibly be correct what you have been told, but I am not convinced!
If so then I would suggest you may have Pectel software, which requires a proprietary board to run.
Assuming your mate has a Cosworth that will be a P8 ECU, they can run WS natively, they just need the correct calibration to do so.

Thanks for the info mate I'v had a L8 chip in it tonight and the pump won't run plus the spark plugs only spark when I turn the key on and off not when I turn the motor over so I'v give up on it and I will just have to look for a replacment next year
