Default Escos shells

Hi all,

I'm trying to decide on a new project to take on and get stuck into after starting my new job. Projects have been on the back burner for me for awhile as I've not had the funds or place to do anything with a car, and I had to give up the project I had.

So when I get shot of my van, and get my work van when I start my job I can have a project again. The sale of my van will make a nice start to buying a car + the money from the sale of my other car I've managed to save and keep.

I've always loved Escort Cosworths, esp in dark grey or white but had always forgot the idea because their big big money

I noticed though the other night on an RS breakers website a shell for sale for £2,000. until now I hadnt considerd this being a way of getting my hands on one, but 2k is totally doable as I can then spread the cost of building her up over time as I go.

So I just had a quick few questions hope you guys wouldnt mind answering...

How much is resonable to exspect to pay for a rolling shell with panels (no engine, box, diffs, interior, brakes and electrics) that needs a small amount of welding? I know that might be abit like asking how long is a piece of string, due to there being so many parts it may or have or not have on it and the condition, but I was just looking for a ball park figure. Is 2k very cheap or about the right price?

Some shells dont come with glass, was all the glass the same as the standard mk5/6 escort?

The other things I noticed was hardly any shells for sale have an ID and V5... does this mean the only way it can be put back on the road is if its put on a Q plate? This throws up one concern, which is without any ID, I cant HPI the car to check its not been stuffed in before buying it

Finally... Is there any important differences I should be considering between shells and looking out for? were others any stronger or better for any reason? I'm aware there is motorsport shells out there with no sunroof but the sunroof is all I know about them

Thanks very much for looking!

me personally would not buy one without id mate ,as it will be a minefield and would end up on a q reg.you will pour a load of cash into it and you wont get it back when youir finished if you do fancy moving it on .buy as complete and good a shell as you can ,as it will save you in the long run mate
