Channel 4 documentary series: Ford Escort MK1
Hello all,
I am currently working on a Channel 4 documentary series on classic cars, looking at how they defined our British social and motoring history.
One of our episodes is looking at the Ford Escort MK1, and as part of this we will be filming a short sequence with the Harris family, known for expertly tuning the engines to rally standard.
We will be interviewing the Harris dynasty this Thursday, 12th December, and after filming a big family reunion meal, we will be participating in a performance test in a 'drag race' set up (totally safe and legal!).
We are borrowing one of the Harris-tuned MK1 Escorts for our presenter, Philip Glenister (actor in BBC dramas Ashes to Ashes, Life on Mars) to test out, but we would love to find a NON-TUNED MK1 Escort for him to drive as well to compare the power of each.
If anyone is interested please email me: louise.bandak@loveproductions.co.uk
Thanks all, Louise.

Testing the future
never mind a standard one or a harris engined one 'tuned to rally standard' (whatever that is supposed to mean ), that is pig's territory with some seriously high powered YB escorts amongst his group of mates

Testing the future
really? that's news to me
i was just saying that pig and his mates are in the Reading / Wokingham area and usually have some proper big power YB mk1 or 2 escorts amongst them and don't mind a bit of a show off session now and then.
a Harris motor is fast in a drag race for sure, which is what they want to do in the programme i suppose so don't get me wrong, but they're nothing like the power of a turbo YB if that is of interest to the programme as well

Depends what you're into I guess. I'd much rather see a lairy Pinto/x-flow under the bonnet of a mk1 than a YB!

as everyone seems to be ultra picky & clinical in their replys as ever I should have said HPE have built sub 10s cars but in their normal genre of N/A 11s & 12s are more what they are known for.
