Worried about damaging the bumper? I'd be worried about damaging/breaking the moulding.

Above all else, if you have to damage something make sure its the bumper not the moulding.

If you do break the moulding, which they do like to split in half/snap when you try to remove them you'll be forever trying to find a replacement.

The 4i bumper is in three parts:
The lower bumper
The top pad
The coloured insert

The top pad is attached to the bumper with a series of small fragile clips - unlss you REALLY need to separate them, I'd leave them alone.
The coloured strip is stuck on with double-sided tape, but the ends are tucked into holes in the top pad, so start levering from the middle and work towards the ends. And don't try it in cold weather as they are also prone to breaking.

I've found a replacement but really want to keep moulding in fairly good nick as I'm looking to try something with it!
Not too worried about the bumpers as I'm respraying them any way, it's the rest of the body kit I want to keep good!

Cheers mate
My front bumper top bit has couple of broken clips attaching it to bottom half so that needs sorting too

If the moulding is in shape but just faded in colour, then can you not have a vehicle wrapping / signage place wrap your existing moulding with exterior grade vinyl?
It would save you damaging anything and if you decided to change it all you'd have to do is peel it off....

Yeah I'm thinking of something like that but really needs to come off for decent job plus bumpers need repaint so do it all in one go
