Hi all,

First post so please be gentle - I drive (when it's not in the garage) a vectra c diesel on an 04 plate. - got 140k on the clock. Had a new clutch at 100k.

Anyway, to today's issue - was accelerating away from a junction, in to second and there was aloud bang, lots of metal on metal grinding and no drive at all. With the clutch in, no noise, with box in neutral, grinding like a bastard!! It's at the garage at the moment awaiting their diagnosis tomorrow - can anyone advise what I'm likely to expect please.

All i can say is a guy at work has one the same age and has no 5th gear, well if he tries to use it it jumps out all the time, he doesnt go far so just uses it as a 4 speed lol he hates his with a passion hence not spending any money on repairs untill its chopped in for a new motor next year

Yeah DTi will have a DMF but sounds like the diff has given up.

Didnt the older ones used to suffer with a failing end plate seal on the box,or so I was advised by mate who worked for greenhouse for donkeys.I had one,absolutely minta of a car really tidy and drove spot on.Only problem was noisy box due to the oil leaking out before I got it.Reading back dmf of diff !.

Well he asked his garage he uses about his problem they looked at car and they say they need to remove the box and he asked how much for this so they told him x amount for removal and refitting then whatever the cost of the problem and since he thinks its a pile of turd anyway and his missus drives it more than him he is like fuck it lol

Matches and a jerry can. I can't think of a reason why anybody would buy a Vectra with their own money.
