The selector in the gearbox on my '55 tdci isn't engaging and doesn't feal like it is connected to anything.
I have an mtx75 from a mk2 1.8 petrol mondeo, and wondering if this will be a straight swap???
I'd guess the ratios will be different, but I'm more worried about starter, and other compatability issues.
The diesel still has a dmf.
Any help Pleas!!!

That's what I suspect has happened, which will be a temp fix if I can swap it, but the housing is broken anyway (long story, but in essence, I bought a dog of a mondy!), so I want to replace the box.
Thanks for the response.

Most likely just the split pin in the linkage dropped out.easy enough fix plus you could just bolt a brand new selector on top of the box and be done with it.

Cheers guys.
Just taken the selector mech off, and found the roll pin sheared, and as davey said, the mech on my mk2 box is different.
One of the rear mountings has been smashed and previous owner used some sort of resin to bodge it, so I think the best option is another box. From £30 locally on ebay, it's not worth the hassle of repairing the old one.
Cheers again for the input.
