stripping a car
hi all, as some of you know i am in the process of stripping an old rusty rs2k 4x4 down to the shell. undecided what to do once ive finished, get engine parts restored and start a project with them i think.
ive never stripped a motor before, so far all the interior and body kit is off, but im not sure what is next. is there some sort of list somewhere or a stripping cars for dummies book i can get lol.
assuming there is a procedure to follow to the correct order?
any help much apreciated.
cheers,
stu

10K+ Poster!!
Just pull it apart! Do it in the order you want, if you are looking at keeping stuff then some plastic boxes with sticky labels for keeping nuts and washers is handy, but there's not set way or striping a car.

Yup, just go for it. As said, plastic boxes or get yourself on ebay and get some sealy bags and a permanent pen to bag all the little nuts, bolts and clips etc up. Also, take loads of pictures of how hoses / cables route and things go together. You might think you will remember where everything goes now, but guarantee you wont when it comes to putting it back together!

depends where your stripping it and what room you have for parts to go, if your stripping it outside then obviously because of rain you want to keep the car watertight and strip all internal components first (interior, engine gearbox looms etc) if your stripping it inside a garage then any order basically, keep in mind, stripping the interior is alot easier with doors off and getting an engine and gearbox out is alor easier with a bonnet off, although being that your stripping the whol thing you mayaswel drop the whole axle etc and just move the shell back and itll all be sat on the floor for you just make sure your carefull doing it and know what your doing you dont want a complete front end landing on your head

zipper bags and permanent marker pen are on their way to me, ordered 200 bags 140mm x 140mm and 50 at 450mm x450mm lol should be enough! and 2 dozen marker pens! stripping shall commence when they arrive will be taking plenty of pics so keep an eye out for a resto/project thread.
