Had one yes, based on the STI 5 tbh, which imo is the better car, engine's can be iffy so be careful, gearboxes weak too. Good fun car though, i PREFERED my Version 3 TYPE -R Great car.

How come the engines in the P1s are poo where as the normal engines are a bit better.

I used to here people say that number 3 piston used to fail on these impreza engines????

My mate has a P1 which has covered over 200k, not on its original engine though! They can also rot badly but if you don't look in the right places you may assume your buying a minter

Good cars if looked after, obviously paying a lot extra for the fact it has 2 doors but they do look much nicer than the 4 doors.

She ate few motors on motorways while I had her!

I'd buy a STi Type R over the P1...
There cheaper to buy and basically a 22B but not as wide...

Tbh I bet quite a lot of them are suffering that sort of strut rot, we only noticed it once the 1/4 panel was separated from the inner wing. It will look good as new though in a weeks time

I really like them and other than a couple of the other classic range it's the only ones that will be worth anything in a few years

I drive one years ago when i had a z3m, thought the p1 was slow compared to that and other similar powerd cars id had at the time. I was a huge subaru fan until i owned one, had a real nice 2004 wr1 and was so dissapointed by the way it handled, if you tried to put it into a bend quickly it just understeered loads and if you went near the power it went sideways immediatley. Heard plenty of others have had similar experiences also

Also just to mention the interior was comically bad in the p1, like a nissan micra with uncomftable seats

I love P1s. There is a guy tottenham who buys and sells scoobies and evo's, he always has some tasties on the forecourt
I believe he also owns a tuning company called 'purpleturtle' in Enfield

That was due to a poor map (standard sti map for Japanese fuel) that wasn't designed to run on UK fuel and subsequently cars suffered engine failure due to pre-ignition.

Loads of differences between the p1 and more common subarus.
We were lucky to get a pic of both cars as my dog stole my keys and was walking about with them in her mouth lol!

A friend of mine won a P1 in a Max Power competition 4 or 5 years ago. He was just going to sell it pretty much straight on and use the money to buy something else but had a hell of a job selling it, only got a few grand for it in the end and it had had a lot of money spent on the engine.
