Focus RS mk1 bottom end question
Hi guys i have bought a 2.0 Zetec Block with Focus RS pistons and rods which im planning to fit over winter i have a Sitech racing CVH head currently which when it was ordered i was told its good for 300bhp, im looking for 280ish bhp
Questions i have are
What is the limit of my OFAB management?
What injectors do i need to run?,as im sure my beiges are on the limit at 230bhp?
And will a T3 .63 with 360 bearings be able to cope?, if not a T28 will be what im looking at,
Cars currently running 215bhp with the spec in my sig
Thanks alot

Too many posts.. I need a life!!
I was told by James at msd that Weber iw 158's which are 380cc were the biggest I could go on ofab. They come on fiat coupe 16v turbos as standard. There are other Weber iw injectors that come on lancia delta integrale's standard which are a similar size give or take a few Cc. They are both beige in colour.
I will be running 158's on my zetec turbo build, hoping to achieve around 280hp.

Adam fit ofam with that bottom end
You can pick your injector and have the car mapped too suit/ spec and your preferences
With your chip, the ignition is set up for a cvh and will work with a Zvh but won't be perfect so what's the point?
I personally would not push something that ain't 100% right

Adam too fit the engine in your car is easier than you think
Adaptor plate for inlet, exhaust and thermostat housing, drill flywheel bolt holes too suit, fit 1.8 zetec cps and bracket, rouse Motorsport bottom coolant hose, mod engine mount (which you have too do with Zvh?) and other than that it will bolt in too what you have
Just use a 1.8 sump and pick up and the downpipe won't need changing, and follow a guide on what water pump and alternator too use

Can I ask why would you bother?
Ofab chip will have everything turned down to run safe and will still need a proper set up too make the most of it
So with a fully mappable ecu available for £38.99 more in my view it makes a ofab chip pointless
In real terms it will also cost £100 more too set up as it's £250 to mapp it instead of £150 for the ofab rolling road tune
Meaning it's only £139.99 more to have a fully mapped set up over a "set up safe" set up with no real control and limited on what you can do with it?
And too make it better stu at msd is interested in selling and mapping ofam?

But your going too spend £250 on a chip when you could sell your ofab and chip for £100 and buy a fully mappable ofam from boost monkeys for £389.99 meaning you pay £289.99 when you sell yours

I'd be looking at the £389 for the ECU then £500 for a live map at MSD.
If I keep my OFAB and get my existing custom map adjusted to suit the new spec I get a discount on the mapping as I've already had a custom map before.
I had bad luck with my last engine, only seeing 3k miles before it shat itself.
I've spent a lot on the new engine to ensure 'hopefully' that its reliable.
Keeping OFAB is mainly to keep the costs down and get some use out of the car next year. OFAM would mean it would be off the road longer and I'd prob end up selling the fucking thing!
Power wise I was more than happy with the old spec so the new spec will be plenty. Any more in a wee fiesta is overkill imo.

Karlos g would do it much cheaper as would rob at boost monkeys
There's no work to fit it other than plug it in
It's upto you to be honest mate but for me I wouldn't live mapp an old system like ofab, when ofam is so cheap
I'm in the same boat as you zetec turbo on ofab, and run out of money and could get it running as it is, but it broke last time due too a poorly set up ofab, so I won't do it again

Who set your ofab up if you don't mind me asking?
I'd like to stick with MSD tbh as they are very thorough and ultimately know there stuff.
Even though the OFAB is an older ECU, I suspect the build quality is going to be better than OFAM?
I do plan to build a new engine loom from scratch tho, so the wiring is tip top.

I'm sure msd will do an amazing job with what you have but with ofam and a wideband you could be running all the extras like closed loop and fan controls and so on, and with a boost solenoid plugged in where the old mapp sensor goes you will have proper boost control too
Either way you will have a correctly set up car though
