I have and I would recommend you steer well clear.

It ended up in court and he didn't even turn up and he hasn't payed any money back that the court ordered yet. If you need proof I will pm the reports I had from Julian Godfrey and merlin developments.

it's a good thing you asked before parting with any cash

some of the "issues" have gone back over 10 years with these guys, including squashing pistons in a vice to make sure they were never going to fit again and leaving big end bolts loose, and this was in 2002.........

Yes he talks the talk until there is a problem mate and something as basic as following the piston manufactures clearances is ignored.

In all honesty there is not one good bit of engineering in the engine he supplied. I have found others with the same sort of problems and even managed to find two engines unrun and one has the same poor machine work and has cost an additional 2000 euros to put right. Yes I won In court as goods unfit for purpose and not of merchantable quality.

nope, the engine was rattling so it was removed and sent back to him, he then took it apart, squashed the pistons and refitted them and sent it back again saying there was nothing wrong with it

it's only when it was opened up that the issues were found, block was scrap though

i think ade had another one of his "special" engines with 2 different types of pistons in them

whilst the v6 aint the most popular, I still don't get why anyone would go anywhere but the well known best for their choice of engine. Tuners with proven cars have a good rep for a reason.

Well boys, thanks for the inside track, defo not bothering with boost now, I got drawn in with the nice pictures on website and the talk.

I know what you are talking about classic for they alway recommend companies as being specialist whenthere are clearly not, they should do a issue on people not use for you classic car but saying that it would probably take 3 full issues go through them all, so many cowboys out there that why a choose to do as much as possible myself , but engine building is not my specially

Top Boss yes?

I'd heard horror story's about them too.

I'd stay away from both.

Top Boss reckon you can fit a Vauxhall Omega plenum to BOA/BOB too & it adds up to 60% more air flow.

Sounds a little suspicious to me.

Your welcome , did you get my pm?

The website is very misleading, the use of "we" and its only him! He subs out the machine-work and works from a shed at home, note no address on the website.

He told me Julian doesn't know how to measure pistons and then told me how he measures bore clearance, with feeler gauges

the bottom line is that it's your money and if you don't feel confident to give it to someone then don't

Best way is to check out some engine machine shops and they will do the work...if they dont own any machines why use a middleman? Both top boss or boost performance dont do any kind of actual engineering to engines.
Try Paul at classic and modern engines.they are currently working on Ades new engine.
The photos on boost performance site are of other peoples hard work not his.
