Exclamation Brown gunk in my oil cap

Right guys I'm not sure wether I've got a problem on my hands or im just being paranoid...

I got a new engine put into my Focus ST2 last week after the previous engine went tits up, I was doing general checks on my car tonight, water level was fine, oil on the dipstick looked fine but when had a look in the oil cap i noticed a dark brown goo on the cap, can someone please tell me what this is? as last time i had gunk in my oil cap it was a mayo looking colour and me engine blew up!

Cheers!

Clean it out, see if it comes back, keep a regular check on coolant and oil levels. It could be just down to condensation.

If the new engine that has been fitted is a complete new engine, then I'd go back to the garage...

Dont automatically think the worst, as said it may just be condensation especially if that is the only indicator

clean up the cap and make sure all breather pipes are clear, drive the car for a few days period of time and on long(ish) journerys. Then re-check. Condesation is caused by numerous short journeys whereby the engine has not got up to temp and been driven like miss daisy.

My sisters little peugeot does this because she goes less than 5 miles a day in it, it never warms up properly and she changes gear at 2.5k.

I drive to work every day it's about 65 miles to my work, I take it real easy Untill the car warms up and I let it cool down when I get to work, I roughly change gears at 2500 revs

Cheers.

65 miles to work is certainly enough miles, maybe give it some beans.

if you've got no other problems, i wouldnt worry. you could get a sniff test done if but its not always conclusive
